Bought these to replace another Anna Stay runner that we have used for several years. The backing began to deteriorate on just it while placemats are still great. Knowing how well all wore, we wanted Anna Stay once again to protect our island and table from heat and scratches.

My wooden dining table would easily get water marks. All the bamboo or cloth placemats didn't work even if I stacked several of them together. I was looking for some thick mats that could prevent the water marks. I found this one on Amazon where the reviews said it would prevent heat damage. I decided to give it a try though still a bit worried it may not be thick enough. It worked even if I put a hot dish on it! Also, it's water proof so most of the spill can be easily wipe off. Noted that it emitted some plastic/unpleasant smell for the first week and gradually went away. If the spill is oily or in rich color it may leave a little bit of mark on the mat. Overall it's a good purchase and serves its purpose.

I can't say enough about this type I have multiple products made by them. Got 1st runner as a present loved it so much I ordered another. Then gave it to numerous people as gifts.
