Products that receive a five star rating from me are rare. This is one of them. The stone is well processed so that surface is clearly defined. The smooth areas are smooth and the coarse areas are coarse. Both curvatures of the top and bottom well serve the different types of crushing and grinding. The ends of the pestle are curved to match respectively.Out of the box, there are still powdery residue left from the manufacturing process. There are instructions on the box on how to clean this up. On use, this set is very nice to work with. The mortar and pestle felt well on grind and impact. The lid serves well to cover freshly crushed herbs and spices until ready for use. The wood spoon is good for scooping up the crushed food.Cleaning takes a little effort especially after working with chili peppers. It takes a stiff nylon brush and vigorous brushing to clean the pepper residue. Since in nature, the stone is porous, a little of the peppery flavour will stay. Someone told us applying and rubbing a teaspoon of real-lemon juice will rid the pepper flavour. Then rinse the lemon juice well off afterwards. This lemon-rinse method works to a great extent.Although cleaning takes some elbow grease, it is a fine product for the purpose of crushing and grinding herbs and spice. Definitely recommend.

I like that it's heavy, and with the silicone mat, it dont move much when we use it.I'm not afraid to break it when using it, it's robust.

I love it! It’s just the perfect size for a quick pesto or spice blend. The finish is beautiful. The rubber lid works perfectly. I got it on sale and it’s an incredible value. I don’t like the logo, but it’s just my opinion. Highly recommended!!

Haven't had time to use it or season it. Seems very solid overall it's nice!
