Interesting alternative....
I have a room that was built in the 70's and instead of drywall they used wood paneling. I hate the look and I tried painting it but it just looks like painted paneling now. I don't want to replace the whole room with drywall so in my endless research on the issue, I came across this textured wallpaper. It changed the look of the walls instantly. It's much easier to install than regular wallpaper and because it has a thickness to it the lines of the paneling don't show through like they do on paper wallpaper. I'm not entirely in love with the texture - it may be a little too much texture for me, but honestly, it's a lot better than the paneling. It was easy to paint also.

Easy Application, Definite Upgrade
I am in the midst of upgrading my home office, and the west wall has fairly extensive drywall damage whoever lived here before did a cruddy patch job! This product has saved me from having to have new drywall put up and/or a professional drywall fix. I did patch and sand the wall as best I could (it's way better) but I'm not a pro by any means. This product is on an accent wall and the rest will eventually be painted blue as seen in the corner of pic 1.Things of note:1. My home is almost 50 years old and the walls are not pin straight after decades of settling.2. When you measure, leave about 3 inches extra on each end and then use a laser level to cut when all installation is done3. Align the seams at about 2 inches per "press"- nothing else matters. The paper is so thick that the rest will just naturally fall into place.4. When the wall is straight (haha) and the seams match it appears to be seamless. When they aren't it still looks better than a bumpy wall.5. You can press and push which is amazing and helpful near the seam especially- but don't do it too hard or you'll stretch the plastic design- kind of like if you stretched a zip lock and it deforms some but doesn't break.6. I recommend removing the entire outer shell that shows on the roll when shipped. I included a pic of the first piece I used and because of shipping the seam edges were a bit rough and the white foam shows a bit. I plan to find a nail polish to match and do a touch up- easy peasy. You can see this is in the last "seam pic". The seam pic before that one is a horizontal side by side examples of a great seam vs an ok one (my handywork alone lol) and also how the color looks in different light.7. The wall covering has the grey plastic design over a thin white foamy sort of material backed by silver foil. If you have a room that needs some insulation assistance this product is awesome.8. You can stick this to the wall and peel off and adjust if needed- with the painted wall I had 0 issues, the adhesive seemed to not adhere as well to the patchwork, but it definitely is secured on there.9. Try not to bend the foil when you're installing and if you do smooth it out before putting it on the wall.10. This is easy!!! I did what's up in the pic in about 45 minutes and can go faster now that I know what I'm doing.
