Severe blisters- read reviews!
I love the look of these shoes. LOVE them. But I was extremely disappointed when all of the negative reviews I read were true. I thought I wouldn't have issues- I ordered up a half size, I have slender symmetrical feet, I've had a few pairs of brooks before. Nope. The shoes are very tight, and you can only loosen the laces so far. There is NO room for any inserts for those who use them. They do take more effort to get on your foot, and the material around the ankle is rough and is likely to create blisters if not careful. But, I thought maybe with a few wears the fabric would relax a bit and I could slowly break them in. I wore them out for errands, around the house, took a walk to a nearby park...they felt ok. Still snug around the arches, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. I would order a full size larger- half size is not enough. Then my old shoes broke to the point where I had no choice to wear them on my long walk/jogs. I discovered that I could feel the guide rail technology through the sole of the shoe. This created additional pressure against my two smallest toes. I felt a blister forming, and when I was about a mile from home, that blister popped and I was unable to walk without severe pain. I took my shoe off and couldn't believe the severity of the blister I had just given myself. =( Thankfully I thought to bring a couple band-aids and was able to limp the rest of the way home.I still love the look of these shoes, but at this point it seems the shoe is too narrow along the sides, putting too much pressure on the toes. I went ahead and bought a pair of Ghosts just in case.. I am not sure I will return these- I can use them for casual wear, but I don't think I'll be using them in my jogs/walks anymore.

GO UP A HALF SIZE
after reading reviews, I decided to go up half a size. SO GLAD I DID. I have always worn a 7.5 US women's. I don't know what shoe companies are doing these days with sizes but it is so hard to just get a regular ol' 7.5 that fits!! and I especially don't know what Brooks was thinking, changing this wonderful shoe. Who in their right mind wants "a more snug fit" for running long distance? also, what runner wants "less padding" in the most common rubbing spots? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ whoever at Brooks signed off on these changes needs to be fired IMHO. as shown in my photos, my levitate 2s are labeled 7.5, levitate 4 in size 8. theyre the exact same size, if not maybe a little smaller. even sized up, it is still snug and I have narrow skinny feet. i'm disappointed, but an 8 1/2 would really be too big. It's a cute shoe so I'm still keeping them... :)

Major design change restricting arch of foot
I'm an avid runner and triathlete. It took an hour-long fitting session before I landed my "Cinderella" shoe a few years ago: The Levitate. I've been through numerous pairs and models, refusing to go back to any of my other tried-and-true brands/models because there was no reason to. Then I ordered the Levitate 4.0 to replace one of my 3.0s in the running rotation. I slipped them on and there were TWO MAJOR DESIGN DIFFERENCES from the previous models:1. Significant reduction in behind-the-heel padding. Even my shoes with 300 miles on them still had more cushion here.2. A completely restricted tongue about 50% down on the laces. You can see from the pictures where I'm pointing - this is where the tongue is permanently fused to the shoe the complete rest of the way down. There is essentially only a 1/2 tongue. And the lower half DOES NOT STRETCH. In the other photo I flipped the tongue underneath so that you can essentially see where the shoe becomes a solid unit. Did I mention IT DOES NOT STRETCH? It is extremely restrictive on my foot, as this is usually a place where I choose to adjust my laces for proper fitting and circulation needs depending on how long I'm running. I took them on a 5 mile run this morning and once I got back home, my feet started to fall asleep. My 2.0s and 3.0s never did that, but it was because I could adjust the laces.Really disappointed. ON BEHALF OF RUNNERS EVERYWHERE: IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!! We all want our shoe models to stay the same - thta's why we keep buying them. Except now I have to go look for old models or just switch to another brand...again.
