Silicone Ice trays are the best
I have been buying all the different types of Ice Ball molds, and the silicone ones are the best to use because the ice comes out very easy. This tray makes smaller balls than a lot of the other brands. These are bigger than a regular ice cube, but still small enough that you can use in a glass of ice tea with a straw. If you are looking for giant balls for whisky, you might want to skip this one. But normal every day use - perfect size. The only problem I have with this tray is that it is wiggly. My other silicone tray were small enough to palm it in one hand, leaving the other hand free to open the freezer and move stuff around. This one makes 10 cubes, so it is longer and if you hold it in the middle, the ends sag just enough to spill a little water. But if you hold it on just one end, you might lose the whole thing. Maybe I will get the hang of it, but as of now, I spilled a little water all three times that I put it in the freezer. I'm not too worried about it, as my floors and the bottom of my freezer are not pristine, so I don't care if a little water gets down there (and it really is a very small amount of water.) But, if that will drive you crazy, see if you can find a silicon tray with less cubes.

Some technique required
Looks exactly as pictured. Small paper with fill instructions provided as well. However, it is not the most intuitive to use. A little finesse needed when adding water and pushing down the top half. Sometimes the longer sides of the top portion of silicone will bend inward when filled with water. These gaps could lead to loss of water or a flat sheet of ice connecting all the ice balls together. Must be handled with two hands once filled. I personally didn't have any issues with it, but keep in mind that it is made of silicone. Very flexible, especially when heavy and filled with water. If you have a more full freezer, make sure you have a flat level surface to set this on. If not, you're guaranteed to either make a mess or have very misshapen ice.

Works great for Jell-O
I bought this tray after seeing it on YouTube for eyeball Jell-O shots. I did not try it with water but the eyeballs came out good. I did not have a problem with the balls coming out as half domes like some people have said. Then again, I did not use water, so I can't comment on that. For jello it's the same instructions. You fill the bottom tray all the way to the brim, put the top tray on top and push gently (evenly) until it closes all the way. To get a full ball of jello and not a half dome, the liquid must squeeze out of every hole at the top of the trays. Do this and you will most certainly get a ball. Also, because the tray is somewhat soft, it's also flimsy. It really helps if you set the tray on a plate or shallow pan to hold the bottom and a heavy plate or two on top to keep the top on. Overall, it's a good buy.

A Pain to Use.
I have made these about 50 times since I received them and they rarely turn out great (never perfect). It is hard for me to get all of the water into the mold so that it forms circular shaped spheres. Problem #1- The 2 halves of the silicone do not completely seal, so water gets in between. This causes leakage, and a very thin layer of flat ice to form in between the spheres. Not beautifully round in shape. Problem #2- The silicone mold is soft so it bends very easily, making it leak, especially when moving it from the sink into the freezer. You have to hold it as flat as you can so it doesn't bend and leak (I use my hand and arm- this mold is long and I still will have trouble). Problem #3- You have to completely fill up the bottom mold, then put the top lid on top. At this stage, excess water comes out of the sides. Problem #4- You can stack the mold on top of a FLAT surface in the freezer, but nothing can be on top of the mold while it's freezing or the weight may press out water. Problem #5- If you use too much water, you get a layer of thin ice connecting all the spheres. If you use too little water, the ice is noticeably not round. It seems I cannot get the perfect amount of water into this mold.Once the ice has frozen, they are very easy to peel out of the mold. I have never had them look beautiful, but they are still fun for our household. I would never use them for guests as they are never somewhat nice looking.

Very Stable Tray for making Iced Anything
This is NOT a flimsy tray that, when filled with water, you can't take a step toward the freezer. You can fill this, and it is still rigid enough to walk with and store in the freezer.without dripping all over. I've made perfectly round ice cubes that really do last a very long time, as well as frozen round popsicles for my dog who LOVES them. I even made frozen yogurt and fruit balls by freezing one side, and then adding the second side. It worked great. Also, because they are perfectly round, you can make eyeballs for halloween, or decorative ice cubes for drinks. A great purchase.

It's easy to crank out ice balls fairly quickly...
A little tricky to figure out, but once you get the process down, it's easy to crank out ice balls fairly quickly. The trick is to fill the bottom portion to the brim, then just press the top section down on top, squirting the extra water out of the holes on top. Dab the sides of the tray dry, and put it in the freezer. It's pretty easy and works well. Just make sure to do it over the sink or on a towel, as some water will escape your tray (it's supposed to happen, don't worry).I think the people who gave it one star must be trying to fill it via the tiny holes, which absolutely won't work and defies common sense. If you follow my basic instructions, you'll get 10 ice balls every 4-6 hours (depending on your freezer temperature, I suppose), each about the size of a regular ice cube.Trust me, if you fill it correctly, it's great.

I had to put a flat object to hold it down but it worked great for my Halloween jello eyeballs
I had to use google to find out how to make sphere shapes lol ..I would have never guessed you had to fill to the rim put the top on, press down and when the liquid comes out of the top a bit it’s full. I had to put a flat object to hold it down but it worked great for my Halloween jello eyeballs lol

Would be better with more rigid edges
The round ice is great and it is fairly easy to use, but the fact that it bends so easily means spills on the way from sink to fridge

Makes great ice balls that look great and last a while!
Makes great ice balls that look great and last a while! I think being round they melt more efficiently. I like the design of this ice tray as it does not leak anywhere with the big lip on the bottom half of the tray. Round is the way to go on first impressions of my first set of ice balls!

Good party balls, hard to use, not for everyday use
After a little use the form seems to get more flexible and much harder to close securely for really nice round balls. The sides of the form don’t go over the top of the holes in the ice balls so that almost all of them have a flat spot (from air), which is poor design. I haven't figured out a solution to filling it to the top yet, even with using a syringe. You need to support it something firm when filling and putting it into the freezer. I just use another ice tray which works fine. This is not as big or as nice as 'the original whisky ball' but it is good, and much more affordable, alternative. For a related product with smaller ice balls you might see my review here:http://www.amazon.ca/Hutzler-Ice-Ball-Tray-Balls/dp/B0042T4D8U
