Amazing piece of equipment
This is an amazing piece of equipment, not only is it constructed very strong it is also a work of art. If you are thinking of making your own essential oils or floral waters this distiller is for you. I am so excited to own one. This essential oil distiller didn't have any customer reviews, so I wanted to let anyone thinking about getting one know they could order with ease of mind and no disappointments. You will have to order the tubing and faucet kit separately. Mountain Biological has a very friendly and helpful staff, you will talk to an actual person if you ever call for assistance. The whole buying experience was great and I am ultimately satisfied with this purchase.

Nice product.
A well made piece of equipment. My first distillation was 1 pound of dried peppermint. I yielded a good 6ml of essential oil, not bad. It must be noted that the first distillation had some gook in it from the manufacturing process. This was expected, I believe that the next distillations will be successively cleaner. Peace. Love. Distill. Extract.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed. The first one showed up with a bent handle. After talking to the manufacturer they agreed to send replacement. The second distiller showed up with a bent handle also. By now the wife is really getting frustrated because of two bent handles and considering the cost. We decided to try it. The distiller bottom is not flush causing the pot to rock wildly on the stove top. Turning the heat down helped but it still rocks enough for concern. The first distiller also seemed unlevel but we did not actually try it. Would not recommend this product unless you intend on using a fish fryer burner for the heat source and I would still be skeptical of purchasing. I'm viewing it as a waste of 500+ dollars and the wife is very unhappy now.

First of all as a spirit still this works great I am able to produce about a liter of 130 proof alcohol before I start seeing decreases in ABV percentages--on a first run mash this is absolutely optimal. I've probably run about 60 gallons of corn mash through this still and the silicone seals are still in great shape, my wields are holding and the temperature gauge still works fine. I use a cheap propane gas burner to run it.As far as oils go there is a lot to be said... I mean it depends on the plant first thing--high pressure can destroy the oils easily, temperature can vaporize oils straight out of the condenser. So you have to be careful... Not to mention consider the fact that this is 20 liters--if you fill it half way with water to produce steam you have 10 liters of volume left--isn't there many confounding variables here?-Quality of plants-plant weight - water weight even plants seemingly bone dry will be more water than oil-quantity of plant matter--this is the biggest confounding variable, how many plants fit into 10 liters of space? even fresh, non-dried plants the answer is usually a lot once packed in. And then if the plants are dried probably 4 or five times as many as fresh plants. If you want plant oils--low and slow--if you are seeing any kind of vapor come out of the condenser--you probably ruined the entire batch. You can not be impatient. However, I believe there is a lot of room for improvement. for near $500, the condenser should be copper, and probably coiled, but I'm sure the straight condenser helps keep pressure lower. Also, the temperature gauge tells the temp at the top of the pot, and this is ok because it lets you know the steam temperature, but it doesn't tell the temperature of the pot itself... also for the sake of the advertisement, I believe it really REALLY should come with a pressure gauge because pressure will destroy plant oils and or push them directly out as vapor and not liquid. If looking into this still for alcohol purposes, there are cheaper options. The Turbo stills are harder to set up, but pretty much heat, run, and monitor themselves at about 60% of the cost of this still.... I think something like $300.
