Nate the Great and the Tardy Tortoise

I tutor a student who is reading a year or so behind his grade level. This book is easy for him to read independently, increases his stamina, and he loves solving the mystery. I gave it to him as a gift and he has asked me for more. What more can you ask to help a child improve his reading!

A group of my stronger first grade readers read this book, in January. We used it to practice predicting what Nate my do next and to wonder what he might be thinking. You can also help children discover how one clue leads to the next clue. Great story. We enjoyed all the extras included in the back section, scientific information as well as silly riddles. My students and I recommend it for first and second grade readers who are almost ready for chapters books.

This series is awesome!! It is captivating and has enhanced my 5 year old grandson's curiosity. It has taught him use his problem solving skills. I have purchased every book in the series.

Very cute book. Nice story mixed with wonderful humor.Ideal reader (s) (Nate The Great Series of books) for boys.My 6 year old son looks forward to reading one of these books every night before bed. If you have a young reader and want to encourage continued reading, these are fun books.
