Q: My cats drag the mat under their current food/water dish which results in trails of spilled water. Is this pretty good at staying put?

We got this bowl because one of our cats loved dragging her water dish around and spilling water everywhere. It's been pretty good about staying put. She does still try to drag it around and can get it a few inches away from its usual spot; however, the water ends up spilling into the little reservoir in the mat and the water doesn't get all over the floor so even if she's able to drag it, we don't have spillage everywhere.

Q: Could this be considered "ant proof"? Could you fill the outer blue area with water to create a moat? Or is it not sturdy enough?

Hi, in theory filling the moat with water should prevent ants getting into your pets food. I have not added this feature to the Amazon listing as there are no ants where I am so have been unable to test properly. If you do decide to use to prevent ants, please make sure that the bowl is on a level surface and there is no food in the moat that ants could walk over. We would also recommend a mat or towel under the feeder as water could spill from moat onto the floor.The base is silicone and designed to be flexible so it can be easily put in the dishwasher. It's is much easier to use a sponge to clear the water from moat before picking it up.
