It works as soon as it is connected
I have a PoE Ring Doorbell. My old PoE gateway and modem failed. After replacing with a new modem, I decided just to obtain PoE adapter for the doorbell. It came just two days from ordering and it works immediately after connecting.

Had to return
Unfortunately this adapter is not made for the 3rd generation cameras I have. So I had to return it. Ring should provide a POE plug for all of their devices
