Love this jar!!
I love how I can bottle right from the jar. With easy to follow instructions and clearly printed markers on the jar to know where a gallon is and where to spot when bottling for the 2nd ferment. No longer having to touch the scoby. The Spicket is sturdy and hold a seal so no leaking. And it looks great.

Love It!
I absolutely LOVE that the spout is METAL not plastic like some drink dispensers, you can tell it’s good quality, the hexagonal shape is cool and the cloth cover is cute. In the instructions it mentions to wash the bottle and spout with soap and water before use but it does NOT mention to wash the cloth which I assumed should probably be done. But just in case I sent them an email and they responded pretty quickly (either that day or the next) and confirmed that yes is should be washed. Just mentioning that here in case anyone else is wondering the same thing, to save you the extra email and wait time. I honestly love this thing so much and love kombucha that I will probably buy another one for myself so I never have to wait for a batch to finish and I may also buy one for my mom and sister who also make kombucha I looked at other products but they all came with extra things I didn’t need or didn’t have that spout which I think is CRUCIAL, it helps to not disturb the scoby when taste testing and any sediment on the bottom won’t get disturbed like it would if you had to tip the jar to pour the stuff out. Also, makes filling bottles a breeze with no funnel needed. DEFINITELY HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Great glass jar, fun shape, sturdy stainless steel spigot
I was a bit scared to start my whole kombucha journey - fear of being poisoned, have bottles explode in my face, have the bacteria SCOBY escape its jar and come for me in the night!!! I’m going to post this review on the starter kit, heater- also this brand, and book products, since it was the starter kit, gallon jar/heater, and book combo that has set me on my kombucha home brew journey…. Make sure you clean jar, spigot and test for leaks before you start brewing - mine was fine, so I was good to go…. I bought the starter kit last month, plus The Big Book of Kombucha and was reading it, talked to friends who’d brewed their own kombucha in the past; they all recommended a glass jar with spigot to do continuous brew rather than mess about with the SCOBY, risk it getting contaminated, and make everything simpler. I bought one from Home Goods, but as I kept reading, I realized the cute crystal glass and plastic spigot would not be good… Went back to the drawing board, researched on Amazon and found a great kombucha gallon jar, with stainless steel spigot, and bought their heater, kombucha likes 78 degrees…and ferments faster… A week ago, I followed a hybrid of directions from my book, the starter kit, and jar people….and created my first go, this starter kit is great, has everything you need, the tea is a mix of organic green and black tea, I’m ordering more today, cane sugar, vinegary smelling starter kit and healthy looking thin layers of cream and tan SCOBY, cane sugar, PH strips - I’m going to use their gallon jar to experiment once my SCOBY needs to be cut smaller… Once I’d mixed everything in my jar, my PH was 2.5 = perfect….added the stick on temp gauge, and my heater, and it’s cook little hat… I had placed the gallon jar on a small towel so I could drag it forward, rather than lifting it….i talked to my dear little Scooby Doo, it is a living organism, every time I was in the kitchen, kept temp at 78-80 degrees, a new white seal grew on top, and stringing strands grew down, all by the book…. I sampled it today, it was sweet, but a little tart, and decanted half off into an old big 48 oz kombucha bottle, and added fresh ginger, hibiscus, and lemon juice- I will burp it every day for 3-4 days, and when the bubbles, flavor is to my liking, I’ll strain it into small bottles and put them in the fridge. My research says let the SCOBY sit in more concentrated mixture for a few days before adding more sweet tea and starting the process all over again… So far, it has been fun, and I look forward to drinking the real flavored stuff in a few days…

Worth the money!
I love this setup! From the bee on the jar to the provided cover. It works great! It even comes with helpful instructions and tips. The jar came without any imperfections, no leaking in the nozzle, though that was a little hard to install. I think overall it’s worth the money and my kombucha tastes great! I did have to buy a warming sleeve for it because my kitchen stays cold year around.

Great value and easy to use, including for continuous brewing!
I tried two other jars, both without taps, prior to buying this, but they both arrived damaged, and I decided to try this one instead. I'm really glad I did. After my first rebottling with fruit for second fermentation, I realized that the natural taste of unflavoured kombucha is much nicer, and gives a pleasant, non-aggressive fizz, not to mention easier. As a result, I decided to go to continuous fermentation, which the tap allows me to do easily. As I drink tea throughout the day, I just make some extra whenever it's convenient for me, steeping it longer, and add 1g of cane sugar for every 10ml of tea, then let it cool. When it's cool enough (83ºF using an instant read thermometer), I nudge my SCOBY aside, pour the tea in, let the SCOBY drift back into place, pop a fabric cover over the jar, and let it get on with the job. When I test for acidity, I consistently get a pH of 3.5, which I find pleasant. Although all the directions say to use a supermarket black tea, as I most often drink Chinese teas, I've started using those, and find that they brew just fine, and add some interesting shifts in flavour. Because I'm doing continuous brewing, if I didn't like the direction the taste is shifting toward as well as what I had been using, it would be a simple matter to take the profile back in the other direction. So far, I'm very happy with the Long Jing (Dragon Well) green tea I drink most days, which is producing a very nice, light, refreshing taste. I also have a black tea made with the same leaves (and nothing but tea leaves) which have a chocolaty taste, and which should give a chocolate-citrus flavour. This was easy to clean, easy to put together, and continues to be easy to use. I strongly recommend it. My only jar related issue was that as I had ordered a different jar initially, the SCOBY I bought at that time was quite small for the jug, and the first batch took overly long. I also decided that part of the reason for that may have been that our home isn't generally as warm as the optimal brewing temperature, and bought a digitally controlled warming wrap, which keeps it nicely within range. Thank you for reading my review I hope you found it helpful.

Great quality, would recommend!!
Purchased this to start brewing kombucha for the first time :) I would highly recommend this product! It came with very simple instructions and even had a recipe explaining how to start making the first batch of kombucha. It's going on 3 years of use, and I haven't had one problem with this product at all. Everything is working as good as day one :) Very good quality. Exactly as described. Would purchase again :):) It has made brewing kombucha a very pleasant experience.

Don’t buy this item, it is poor quality and is NOT tempered.
Read the insert, this jar is not tempered! Do not put hot liquids into it or it will shatter and/or break. The spigot installation is ridiculous. The silicon washer needs to be washed before using, but one is already installed so I had to get it out, wash and put it back in. The edges of the glass hole were covered in some kind of schmoo and are exceedingly sharp. The jar is not thick enough to withstand removing and replacing the washer repeatedly. Because I do a lot of canning and wine making I can see that this jar probably won’t last long. The thickness that would have provided strength simply isn’t there. In addition, the jar arrived with a noticeable white area that I first thought could have been residue from a sticker, but alas it is a noticeably big damaged area on the front of the jar. The jar has multiple imperfections and is probably a cheap “second” based on observations. Nice…considering how much we are paying for the it. Save your money and buy a sun tea jar. Don’t buy this item. This is not a good value!

Jury is out...
The jar is really cute and I love the spigot, which is heavy-ish and feels quite sturdy and of good quality. The cover is woven tightly enough, IMO, that it will keep the fruit flies out. However, installing the spigot is NOT intuitive. Why, you may ask? My box did not come with the 2 steel rings that surround the spigot. I didn't know this at first, however, and I tore up the silicone ring trying to install the spigot without the steel rings. I finally got the spigot in, but the jar leaked. I should have sought out an installation video first, sure, but only with hindsight did I understand I was actually missing a couple of parts. I contacted the company directly, and they are sending me the steel rings I didn't receive--BUT they declined to send me a new silicon seal even after I told them I'd torn the original. The customer rep was "sure," somehow (!), that my silicon ring would work anyway, even in its torn state. So I'm waiting to receive the steel rings now to install the spigot. I still love the jar, but I'm not satisfied with the customer service I received. I mean, why was it such a problem to send me a small silicon ring/seal that I'd even offered, up-front, to pay for? ***UPDATE: They are sending me a new o-ring too. Thank you, Craft-a-Brew! ***

Superb kombucha jar
I had been using 2 half gallon jars to make kombucha for the past few years. Bottling was always somewhat of a chore, sometimes a disaster. Now, bottling is a breeze. Take out the scoby, give the tea a stir, take out some tea tu use for the next batch, pour my flavouring right into the jar for an 2nd fermentation and fill the bottles. I still use a small funnel, less messy. Prime Days in Oct gave a good discount so I was able to finally get one. Love it. Highly recommend.

Nice, but quality could be dangerous
Everything is nicely packed and as promised, but when removing the rubber/plastic to sanitize, the hole has been cut and finished in a very poor way, leaving and edge which is only just not sharp enough to cut a user.

Buena calidad y funcional
El recipiente es de buen material, fuerte y funcional para la preparación de Kombucha. Facilita la extracción del líquido y puedes dejar al scoby con el líquido de arranque listo para la siguiente preparación.

Cutting Edge!
I just received this jar (version with spout) today, and it seems like a a well designed and well made product. I look forward to brewing my boocha in this from now on. Just one word of caution: the supplied metal washers have razor sharp edges. I cut my finger quite badly when working the spout through the (obviously tight-fitting) silicone gasket. Take care assembling the spouted jars!
