Well made keyboard with excellent sound.
I want to thank the delivery fellow. He was a busy young man today in the heat. I so appreciate getting this delivery before the end of the day.I have purchased 2 different keyboards: a small travel Roland and this Yamaha in the past few years. When I wanted an instrument for a small location, I decided it was not worth risking spending money on anything less than the quality that I value in a Yamaha instrument. If you do not have a chance to actually play and compare a variety of other keyboards, it is worth spending a little more to get an instrument that will last and provide the valuable things that this keyboard offers. It may not have all the functions of some other keyboards, but the sound and touch are very similar to a fine piano. (I also own a grand piano, so I am able to compare the quality. ) If you are looking to buy a keyboard to use in a small space, and want an alternate to a piano, this is an excellent option. It is not a toy or just for beginners and will provide you with an instrument that will give you years of satisfaction.

Great sound and easy to store
Such a great instrument - the sound is as close as it can be to a real piano with a benefit of it being compact and easy to store. I put it at the desk top (albeit lowering its height to have the right position) and pack the piano up in a carry case after use. Using headphones, you can play whatever hour of the day it is. Fantastic instrument to practice at home and doesn’t take much space.

Good starter model but White is Black
Firstly to say that the advert said White yet showed a Black example; what arrived was Black, not that I would have minded either way but slighty prefer Black.I wanted a model with a nice feel and a good piano sound taht also supported recording to a digital music production package. I purposely wanted to avoid having too many options and gadgets that might distract me from trying like so many people to relearn during these challenging and sometimes isolated times. The keyboard has a reasonably good weighted feel, good enought for a starter I think but it is not all that sensitive to touch but perhaps there are setting I can use to adjust this. The surface of the white keys is ok but lacks traction, again probably not an issue for starters. Sometimes I am finding that when I strike a key it dies not depress enough to sound but I think that is more my rusty technique (or lack of!) than an issue with the keys. So overall the keyboard is about what I expected after consulting numerous online reviews. The piano sounds are good but I don't think you'd confuse them for a real piano. There are some strange overtones when I play middle C and the E in the next octave up but I tend to be very fussy about sound, I don't think this would trouble many people. The inbuilt speakers and amp are loud enough to hear but not to feel, they do a reasonable job but the tone is better through a good pair of headphones. There are a few other sounds for electric piano, organ etc, I don't want to become too concerned with these just yet but I was surprised how good some of them sound on first hearing.I bought the matching stand which is quite heavy and of good quality, but as the piano body is quite deep my knees won't fit under, I am 6ft 2 inches tall. I also bought the three way pedal cluster which works fairly well, though the 'soft' pedal is not very pronounced. In conclusion I am happy with this and glad that I bought it. There seems to be a huge demand presently so prices are elevated and the much cheaper option of buying from a German company is apparently no longer permitted. I spent ages looking at other options in this price bracket and narrowed it down to this or the Kawai 110. If I make good progress then hopefully in a year or so I might upgrade but for now this is a lovely instrument to have available.

A Great Digital Piano
I thought that this replacement for Yamaha's P-115, was a pointless upgrade. However, now that I own one, my tune has changed. In the box, there should be 1 x Yamaha P-125 digital piano, 1 x plastic music rest, 1 x owners manual, 1 x mains adaptor and 1 x plastic sustain pedal, plus warranty registration information and a fair amount of polystyrene!Compared to the P-115, the touch is about the same; still fairly light, with the same matte finish on the black keys. Some would place Yamaha's GHS below that of Roland's PHA-4 and others in this price range, in terms of likeness to a real acoustic piano. In some aspects, I would probably agree, but the feel is still great and the GHS system is good enough for most players. The sound seems to have been improved; the new two-way sound system really replicates the richness of an acoustic piano, plus the top speakers appear to produce a brighter and slightly more crisp sound compared to the P-115, without surrendering the low end. But as normal, you will get the best sound when you put the keyboard through an amp or headphones. There are 10 more sounds than the P-115, including some from Yamaha's vintage synthesizers. Some would say that this doesn't mean much, but for me, it does. Having 24 sounds makes it more comparable to others in the price range, plus it means that there are more opportunities to create different layered sounds. For me as a composer, sampling a keyboard is always great and in my opinion, the sampling in Yamaha's P series is better than that of Kawai and others in the price range, certainly in terms of piano, Rhodes and DX. There are more rhythm patterns to play along to, but the 'Pianist Styles' feature has been removed from the P-125. This is where the piano would turn the chords played by your left hand, into an accompaniment pattern, leaving your right hand to play the melody. The keyboard is still as slim and as light as before, meaning that it can be moved or transported with minimal fuss.My only issue is with the fact that Yamaha don't seem to provide staggering or necessary changes when releasing new pianos. For example, the GHS system, while good, is fairly dated and the keys, while nice in feel, still lack the ivory coating needed to replicate a real piano more closely. Plus, there is still no chorus effect or Bluetooth connectivity and the Smart Pianist app is still limited to iPad/iPhone. Luckily for me, I wouldn't use the app or Bluetooth anyway, but for others, it may be different.Considering that I paid less than the price for the replaced model, I think that overall, the package is a great deal. The best thing about this piano is how it sounds; it really promotes expressive playing. If you are a beginner, important things will be the weighting and likeness of the hammer response to that of a real acoustic piano, and I think that Yamaha's GHS does well in this area.Definitely recommended.
