This heater is simple with an on/off switch and and tipping sensors.It works just fine but I would caution all buyers to note that it is really only for under-desk use. It just doesn't have enough power to be useful for anything else. I ended up taking a different heater that I keep at my desk to use at home and keeping this one under my desk because it just is basically useless except for heating up whatever part of your body is right next to it. It doesn't even heat up my bathroom.

I use this to blow warm air on my hands when I'm sitting at my desk in my home office, and it definitely allows me to keep the heat in the house a couple of degrees cooler than I otherwise would need to. It seems like that's generally how people will use it.Look at the design, though, and consider that the metal grill, which juts out slightly beyond the plastic bezel, is very, very close to the heating element inside. It's really easy to accidentally brush a hand against the metal, and it is *hot*. Also consider that desks generally have paperwork on them. I usually keep my desk pretty neat, but I could definitely see this being a fire hazard for someone with a different organizational style.It's definitely effective, and I'll continue to use it, but I'm definitely aware that I need to be very conscientious about keeping anything flammable/burnable/meltable away from it when it is on. That's harder to do than with a typical space heater since this one needs to be so close to me to be effective.

Bought this for our camper as winter is coming...to take the chill off. Bought another such that we have one in the front of the camper and one in the back. Not a big power draw (no breakers blown), put out a good amount of heat and there was no need for firing up the propane camper heater (was 1.6C this morn). Nice that it has the auto shut off button on the bottom if it is tipped over. The grill gets warm (I would hope so) but the rest of the unit is cool to the touch. No complaints at all. Great deal.

When I read the other reviews I was a bit worried, but I didn't need an expensive wild heater.I live in a basement in Toronto which is cold and damp. This little heater was purchased to warm a corner to keep my reptile nice and toasty. Which it does! BUT! It also takes the chill out of the air, and surprisingly, contradictory to other reviews does in fact warm the rest of my room. Nothing drastic but it's clearly a very powerful little heater.I don't run it for long periods of time, and hour or two at a time, so it hasn't died and I can't speak to that but I would never run it for longer than that. There is no temperature control, only hot! If this was under a desk I would imagine your toes would be kept very warm but the heat doesn't go very far, when compared to blasting. Just in general it warms.The smell that people are talking about I also experienced, but the label does warn of that. It isn't anything to worry about, and goes away after a few uses. It does recommend using in a well ventilated area the first time to eliminate headaches. It's a chemical smell, I believe the label said it was from sanitizing the product.The cancer warning.. is because products must include those in the state of California. Unless you were planning on eating the thing, you will be alright.In summation, I love this heater. It keeps my large space a bit warmer, warms smaller spaces well. No heat control but is gets hot!Smell goes away, cancer warning for legal purposes.

As I mentioned in my review there's no control for adjusting the temperature it is basically only a 500 w heater so it is pretty limited in terms of heat output but for a small areas like my office it works perfectly for that.I think for most people this is the perfect size heater for a small room less than I would say 300 ft it's hopefully not your main heat Source if that is the case this will be woefully undersized.
