The Good Asian, Volume 2 (Good Asian, 2) Paperback – 24 May 2022

Telling the story of a Chinese police detective in the 1930s, this series deals with murder and mayhem and is quite good. The artwork is not particularly detailed and is mainly black, white and red. It's quite a good yarn but, in the end, nothing special. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

“The Good Asian 2” collects issues #5-10 of this ongoing new series, a detective story set in 1936 San Francisco, with an ethnic Chinese police officer as the central character.I can never remember much about a previous volume, since they appear four to six months apart, but with this volume, I had trouble following who all the characters were, the plot got so convoluted, with new and major characters apparently appearing out of nowhere.Then the colour palette became distracting, as so much of the story is either told in flashback or at night, all requiring a muted and limited set of colours, so that I gave up and just read through to the end.It was OK, but nothing special, even for a period crime-drama.I read a local library copy.
