F.Grau new jersey. Watchmen 4k movie
Saw the watchmen movie on cable tv a year or so ago.never saw the ultimate cut of this movie. Well will watch it later. I watched a little of it from my purchase I received today.looks good on 4k .sound is great.I believe this ultimate cut is longer than the regular version. I think this version of the movie is 4 hours long.I've watched 4 hours long movies before like I have dancing with wolfs the 4 hour version on bluray. So I'm use to it.the movie is interesting to watch with these unknown superheroes trying to find out who killed one of there superheroes .it does have sex an volance in the movie. Wouldn't be surprised if this version is past the rated R regular version. Worth getting. wonder if this will go up in price down the road. It cost me $44 on 4k disk.

LOVE IT
This is a great movie. Good story and script. Excellent stage sets and special effects. Amazing acting by the entire cast. I bought the DVD so I could watch it over and over without hassle. It was on YouTube for free, but has become another victim of human greed so no longer free. It still fits in well with our current culture. Highly recommend this movie.

Blu-Ray isn't the Ultimate Cut
So it says it comes with a blu-ray version but that disk only has the directors cut on it, not the Ultimate Cut that I paid for. Guess I have to wait for a friend to buy a UHD player to make it worth my while. That said the disk plays, just wish I'd known about it containing two different versions.

Best version of the movie in 4k
Good product. THE 4K is decent and I think I those who appreciate grain in film will like this. I do think it takes away from the overall sharpness of the film though. If you are familiar with Zack Snyder's films they all have this certain look with grain throughout. HDR makes the color look great and natural. Blacks are deep with little noise. The audio is superb. If you are a fan of this film you may enjoy this.No digital code unfortunately.

Untouchable
Deemed unfilmable for decades, Zack Snyder made an incredible near 4 hour opus of the greatest comic story ever told. The ultimate cut is outstanding and the most recommended version to rewatch to this day. Thank you Alan, Dave & Zack.

Good Blu-ray Disc!
This is only an addition to my collection (as I don’t have the theatrical cut) but the Blu-ray is great. It works very well, the case is solid and the shipping is fast. There are even chapters you can move to. Just a heads up it does work with a ps4 I tested it out! Good disc!(This is not a review of the film, only the disc/disc holder)

a limited edition case
This is a limited edition of the "Watchmen" film - with the Blu-ray contained in a Dr Manhattan case. The case itself is certainly distinct, but I suspect it's something that only a big fan of the movie will be interested in. The case is made from plastic, and it opens to reveal the disc. Here's my review of the movie ... "Watchmen" is a film that divided audiences – some people hated it, while others loved it. Personally, I fit in the latter category. I didn’t see it at the cinema (having heard poor reviews), but I did buy it on DVD – and I was utterly blown away! I subsequently bought it on Blu-ray, and now have the 4-disc set “Ultimate Cut”. I’m an avid film viewer, and have a wide taste in movies (such as John Carpenter’s “The Thing” (1982), Julia Leigh’s “Sleeping Beauty” (2011), and Geoff Murphy’s “The Quiet Earth” (1985)) – but, after much thought, I consider Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen” film to be my all-time personal favourite movie. As such, my review of it is hardly neutral.“Watchmen” presents us with a nasty, gritty, worn-out world – a civilisation in decline. Crime seemingly lurks around every corner. This is a somewhat darker, slightly more menacing alternate version of our social reality – back in the late 1970’s and into the 1980’s (when global Armageddon of our own making – the Bomb – was only a button press away). It’s here, in this “Watchmen” universe, that there’s a real need for heroes – for costumed vigilantes – who help save the innocent and mete out justice to wrong-doers. And so, rather than appearing in comic book strips in the late 1930’s, in this alternate reality ‘the costumed vigilante hero’ actually happened. Unfortunately, such heroes didn’t make much of a difference to the world. Their attempts to bring about change result in little more than personal tragedy and disillusionment. But the appearance of one particular ‘hero’ does change the world – the arrival of a bona fide super-powered being, known as Dr Manhattan. But he’s not simply a ‘super-hero’, he’s more like a god. He possesses the capacity to change almost anything – having complete control over matter. This is a being who could save or destroy all humankind … and it’s here, as regards the story of a man who becomes a god, that the film is truly insightful. For Dr Manhattan adopts a dispassionate stance towards life in general, and distances himself from human affairs. As such, this god doesn’t seem especially interested in us.Yet it’s humankind’s fear of this god that potentially unifies the people of the world – and so the world’s smartest man, a former costumed vigilante, sets in motion a sequence of events that will result in Dr Manhattan being perceived as a universal threat. So the governments of the world put aside their petty differences, so as to stand together as one in the face of this god. Peace on Earth is achieved – but at what cost! Dr Manhattan understands the logic of the situation, even if it is based on a lie. And it’s the coming to fruition of this lie – the grand and diabolical plot to save the world – that forms the backdrop of the story of “Watchmen”.The film is based on the legendary graphic novel. And it draws on this source material in an amazing way, often depicting on film precise and exact imagery from the graphic novel. But the film takes creative licence, and slightly adapts the source material – and, in my view, the changes are all for the better. This is a fantastic – and epic – 3 hour movie. It shows a world on the brink of insanity; a world in desperate need of heroes, but a world that doesn’t want such heroes. This is a world where god has become a real presence; but where this all-mighty denies his godhood. The “Director’s Cut” on Blu-ray is the best – most complete and coherent – version of the film. This is a seminal piece of film-making, and demonstrates Snyder’s talent as director (he’s never surpassed this work, although both “300” and “Dawn of Justice” come close). The acting is, all-round, excellent. And the sound track is amazing. But this is not a film for everyone. It’s very dark, to the point of macabre, and has few moments of happiness or joy. It’s often violent. It’s a character-driven piece, involving hitherto unknown characters. And at 3 hours, it’s a long movie. The director imprints his own ‘take’ on the film, so if you’re not a fan of such films as “Sucker Punch” and “Man of Steel” then you’ll likely not enjoy this movie.Yet I do recommend that you at least give this film a watch … and it may be that you’ll love it. I do, and I’ve yet to experience a movie that surpasses this one in terms of story-telling and creativity. In my (biased) opinion, this is a masterpiece.
