Extremely Enjoyable and Informative Read!
For anyone interested in Twin Peaks, Angelo Badalamenti and the long term collaboration between David Lynch and Badalamenti this is a fascinating read. The origins of their collaboration is explored as well as Badalamenti's experience and inspiration. I did not find the text overly analytical (as did the previous reviewer) - I think the author does well in presenting the information for musicians and non-musicians alike. I found it enjoyable to listen to some of Badalamenti's earlier compositions such as the songs for Nina Simone, especially "I Hold No Grudge" which foreshadows the mood of Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks. Indeed the book goes beyond the actual Twin Peaks soundtrack, as the 33 1/3 series seems to suggest. There is connection with earlier and later scoring. Badalamenti is a really interesting composer whose work deserves attention!

Far From The Best Of This Series
The very first sentence of this book contains an error: "A bass sounds a twangy, resonant low F..." Well, no, it doesn't; a baritone guitar does. This despite the fact that, later in the book, the author makes reference to a cue that mentions a baritone guitar by name. Whoops! This is the worst-edited book I've read from this series; undoubtedly it was rushed out to coincide with the new episodes of "Twin Peaks." Another example of this regards Windom Earle, whose name is sometimes spelled correctly, and at other times spelled "Wyndham." The writing is generally good, especially when the author is fully engaged in music analysis, which is clearly her forte. But the lack of editing really shows. The tic that I most would have liked to see removed by a good editorial polish was the author's excessive, inappropriate use of the of the word "even" as an intensifier: "So and so *even* did this. This other thing *even* happened." Once you notice it, you'll see it everywhere, and it will drive you crazy. ;^)On the upside, reading this book did cause me to dive a bit deeper into this music than I had, which is the point, right? So I don't count the time as wasted. But I don't expect to read it again.

Very well done
The book does a great job going into the history of Badalamenti's relationship with Lynch, as well as going into enough theory to show how the music works. One of the best Twin Peaks books I've read.
