A passionate world I want to visit again and again!
Pretending To Be A Debutante is ultimately a romance about two imperfect people that learn consequences can alter your life forever. Priscilla decides to impersonate an heiress at a house party after being blackmailed. Emmerson chooses to pursue a wealthy, reluctant seventeen-year-old girl for her fortune to save his family. These decisions, although made with good intentions, change the fabric of their lives forever.Emmerson is desperate, needing money quickly. Although his reasons are admirable, his rash actions include encouraging a young girl to marry a man she doesn’t want. Priscilla’s good intentions are based on saving her friend’s livelihood, even if it means hurting and lying to a good man. I might have disliked Emmerson and Priscilla due to their hasty, disastrous decisions. However, the author humanized these fragile, broken people. I saw Emmerson and Priscilla’s vulnerabilities and felt empathy for both. Emmerson and Priscilla’s pasts are tragic and help mold the people they become. These are desperate people willing to do anything to save those they love. The love story between Emmerson and Priscilla is sweetly passionate even though based on lies. The couple’s visceral connection shines through as real even through all the subterfuge. The plot moved quickly and kept my attention. The writing was superb, what I have always come to expect from Annabelle Anders.Pretending To Be A Debutante is the third book in Miss Primm’s Secret School For Budding Bluestockings. As with the Cocky Gents series, Annabelle Anders has created a passionate world I want to visit again and again. This is yet another amazing, poignant love story that left me wanting more. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A tale of forgiveness
Will her false identity be too much for them to overcome …This w as as not a book easy to review.Oh don’t take me wrong, it is a very good tale but I was torn about the heroine, I loved and hated her at the same time. She does what she must to save her employer and livelihood, and worse, it is an impossible situation as she attracted to the man she must refuse. And as he proves again and again how a kind and caring man he is, it is so easy to follow wherever he wants to lead her, but I disliked her for giving him false hopes, for succumbing to her need when 1)- it will jeopardize more than her own life, 2)- it is a cruel game she plays to Emerson, her selfishness disturbed me, whatever her reasons were. She should have learned from her past.So I internally battled with myself, to finally decide for this story to work for me was for them to be seen like fated mate, souls linked by invisible threads weaving them together, making them unable to stay away, irresistibly answering the pull they feel toward the other. She is a young woman who was taught a harsh life lesson some years ago, so she rebuilt herself as a teacher to not waste her time in idle pursuits.Emerson, while I could have found him mercenary for seeking Priscilla’s student’’s hand, he is not entering in this marriage of convenience for himself, but for his family, because of the irreversible damages his father did to their estates, he did his best to salvage what could be and part with everything he were able but it is not enough, only an immediate influx of cash could save them for the worst fate for a destitute peer.Sure he tried to sway his “intended” to accept his suit by romancing and proving her he is a fair man and how welcoming his family is.But while he could have used coercion or ruination, he wanted it to be her agreement, a positive answer which could never come as he wooed a woman who does not really exist.I just wonder why did it never occur to Priscilla to confess all to Emerson, he is no monster as she learned from first hand. I have no idea how he would have received the news but they might have been able to work something together instead of Priscilla’s excruciating wait for the second shoe to drop.In all, a lovely tale of star-crossed lovers circumstances should never have brought together.I now quite curious about Emerson and Priscilla’s friends upcoming tale.4 stars𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 hot, foreplays and lovemaking scenes.

When pretending hurts you more than him
Priscilla is coerced - pretty heavy-handedly by the increasingly frustrating Miss Primm - into pretending to be one of her students to save the reputation of a fellow teacher and that of the school. She chafes at the deception every step of the way, and even more so as she falls in love with Emerson. The ruse is doomed from the start. The unlikely chance of success, however, can be overlooked because everyone involved, including the hero, is acting out of desperation. What really drives the plot forward isn’t so much the deception, but the mystery surrounding the hold the Duke of Malum has over the hero’s future. The author did a good job stringing the reader along.Unfortunately, I was confused in the end how the Duke executed his retribution against the hero for his father’s crimes. It needed to be explained in greater detail. And who is this odd Duke? Is he a character from a previous book. A future one? Wouldn’t it be interesting if he fell in love with one of the hero’s many sisters one day and had to grovel to the man he was cruelly cold to?Ultimately, this was a pleasant read with a charming hero and heroine. Certain plot holes left the reader unsatisfied on sone level, but it didn’t ruin the story.

BLACKMAIL LEADS TO TROUBLE
Emerson Huntington, Earl of Hardwood, has a contract to marry Miss Allison Meadowbrook. The problem is to get her to say yes to the proposal. Allison uses blackmail to force the teachers at Miss Primm's Seminary For The Education Of Ladies to convince the Earl to accept her "no" to his proposal. She loves some one else. Emerson is on a deadline to pay his father's debt. He needs the money from the marriage. A bargain is struck and the deception begins. Priscilla will impersonate Allison for two weeks at a house party hosted by Emerson and his family. If "Allison" still says "no" at the end of the two weeks, the wedding is off. That buzz of attraction! Priscilla falls in love with Emerson and Emerson falls in love with "Allison." Priscilla does not want to lie and Emerson is so sweet. It's a plan that is headed for disaster! A funny, but heartbreaking trope. Not one that I've read in a lot of books lately.

An engaging read
4.5 starsI did enjoy this book but did feel sorry for Priscilla and the position she was placed in, due to pressure from those who should have known better. There is a scandal from Priscilla’s past, Emerson ( Earl of Hardwood) also has a secret that he wishes to keep, although his, is due to his father. I can’t say I was happy with the lies that were being told, particularly when Priscilla and Emerson began to regard each other in a different light. How ever, it was an engaging read with likeable characters. I do hope Emerson’s two friends feature in future stories.

Heartfelt and enjoyable
Wonderful story of love amongst deception, hard-headedness and dreams. Emerson Huntington, the Baron of Hardwood, is trying to get from under the debts his father has left him, and marrying a rich debutante is going to help. Lady Priscilla Fellowes is a teacher of the said debutante at Miss Primm's school. Having to deceive Emerson is the hardest thing Priscilla has ever done, except perhaps denying her true feelings for him. Loved the characters and the story was unique, heartfelt and enjoyable. Looking forward to the next in the series (can be read as a standalone)
