NECAKing Features 7” Scale Action Figure – Original Superheroes Flash Gordon

This is a great figure! The face has an amazing sculpt. Very articulated. The only down is Neca figures can have joints that are very stiff out of package and can break if forced to hard. Usually dipping figure uh hot water will loosen those up. Other that that I'm glad I bought the figure and the others Neca has put out in this sci Fi line.

The first Flash Gordon from Neca, the Defenders of the Earth version, was a great figure but had some massive flaws; The plastic Neca used was brittle and would easily break if not careful, so actually posing the figure around was dangerous. Also everything was just molded in Red and then painted. This meant that the figure had a cakey finish, and whenever you used the articulation the paint would scrape away revealing the red plastic underneath.With this Original Superheros version Neca has corrected both of those problems; The plastic used is a softer more pliable material which means there is less of a chance of anything snapping when you pose it around. They also molded everything in their appropriate colored plastic. Hands are molded in flesh color, boots are molded in black, etc. Which honestly is such an obvious move I don't know why they didn't go that route in the first place.This, Phantom, and Ming are all fantastic and huge improvements over their Defenders of the Earth versions. If you're into these classic pulp characters I'd say this is as good as it's going to get. It'd be nice if Neca continued this line with other classic heroes like Dick Tracy, The Shadow, Zorro, etc. but even if they don't, these will be a fantastic addition to anyone's collection.

Action figure is very cool, very detailed. Not thrilled that such a collectible item was sent with a very ripped box (see picture). Seems like someone ripped it open, decided to return it, and they sent it to me. Keeping it because LUCKILY I know the recipient will take out of the box, but they should be more careful with these types of items, as they are usually wanting to be kept in excellent condition, new in box.
