Q: What size rope is used to wrap around pier or deck posts?

FMS Manila Rope is commonly used outdoors around posts in larger diameters. The standard size used in these applications is between 1/2-inch and 1-inch. 3/4-inch works very well too. FMS has smaller lengths available to choose from to try out sizes and without a huge investment.

Q: is it good for an outdoor chair?

Most definitely. The 1/4-inch is commonly used in outdoor seating arrangements and with its' high tensile strength will hold well when woven together for a chair. Manila is the original rope and existed long before synthetic fibers became available.

Q: Does this rope have oils added to it during manufaturing? I need it for climbing nets for my exotic birds.

FMS Manila rope does not have any oils or lubricants added during the manufacturing process. The rope is great for birds and pets alike. It is commonly seen on cat scratching posts and birds love using it. I purchased this hoping it was chemical free. It arrived smelling so terrible of chemicals. Like it was soaked in gas. Even after I returned it my house smelled.
