After doing alot of reading, sand is a safer (not as effective) cleaner for chinchillas. please reply if you use this for your chinchilla and like it?

Is this product calcium free?

It is indeed calcium free and it’s very soft to the touch but not the least bit dusty and actually smells really nice to me. Has a very earthy, natural smell. So totally safe for your hammy and 100% worth it!

Can hamster pee in this sand?

Yes, they can pee in this sand. It clumps together, and stays together. It doesn't spread out to all the rest of the sand like the softer kind of sand. Mine use it for a potty box as well as a sand bath

Approximately how long would one bag of this last a dwarf hamster, being cleaned regularly?

So far I have used one entire bag for my three robo hamsters in one large aquarium (used in combination with a large container) for three weeks. I clean the sand regularly with a hermit crab poop shovel (it’s just what I have handy since we have hermit crabs also) and the sand is still pretty clean! I clean the sand once a day or once every other day. It clumps urine very well, I’m very impressed to be honest. My dwarf hamsters love their little sand box/cave and have made a portion of it their urine area, and a portion of it for their bathing needs. I suspect that I will need to replace completely in roughly two months, totaling it for a use of three months. Keep in mind that I do have three dwarf hamsters in the habitat and clean it regularly. For your purposes, since I’m assuming that you have one, I would imagine the use you would get out of it is much longer in duration. Hope this helps!
