I have always had some dread regarding my cold storage wallets and the possibility of losing the seed phrases (a means to recover your crypto in the event you lose access to your private keys) and the Hooe England Crypto Seed Storage Metal Plates look perfect. Received in a small branded bubble-wrap envelope in which a second envelope held all the plates (secured together using a small bolt/threaded base) stickers, cleaning cloths and tamper stickers. These plates are titanium with a size of 8.9 x 5.4 x 0.2 cm and each weighs 100 Grams, they are 2mm thick and have been etched with numbers in boxes up to 24 per plate for your seed phrases. You have a couple of options to impart you seed phrases, engrave or use letter & number punches – I used the latter and it worked well though I had to use a fair amount of force for each – and you’d have to ensure you have room for the seed phrases as a punch can take up a bit of room – I would say 10 characters maximum in the space provided. This is a great idea – the tamper proofing being an additional check that your seed phrases have been kept secure – though in the event of a fire or other disaster, the tamper stickers may well be destroyed and thus of no value? Also, if you ever have to change your seed phrases for any reason, the plates would become redundant and you’d have to purchase new plates. With all of that said I feel better having these rather than bits of paper as they could withstand very severe conditions, which paper can not. A novel idea and useful for your use case if you have one. Price unknown at time of review.

It is what it is. Note that titanium is very hard, letter punches will not easily make a clear enough mark like they would in steel or aluminum - I ended up buying a cheap Dremel engraver instead and wrote my passkeys by hand. Turns out a cheap engraver costs about as much as a set of letter punches 👍🏻

##### ##### 4 von 5 Ich habe diese Titanplatten im Rahmen eines Produkttests erhalten. Grundsätzlich finde ich die Idee und die Qualität der Titanplatten wirklich sehr gut. Das Material fühlt sich extrem stabil an und macht einen sicheren Eindruck. Titan ist natürlich die bessere Wahl, wenn es um langfristige und sichere Aufbewahrung von Seed Wörtern geht. Allerdings muss ich ehrlich sagen, ich habe mir das Gravieren deutlich einfacher vorgestellt. Titan ist sehr hart und genau das merkt man auch. Einen Buchstaben sauber einzugravieren oder einzuschlagen ist nicht so leicht, wie man es vielleicht erwartet. Ich habe angefangen, meine Sicherheitswörter zu gravieren, bin aber nicht bis zum Ende gekommen, weil mir dafür schlicht ein besseres Werkzeug fehlt. Natürlich steht in der Produktbeschreibung, dass man sich entsprechendes Werkzeug besorgen soll. Trotzdem fühlt man sich an der Stelle etwas alleingelassen. Der Bedarf ist definitiv da, aber der Einstieg ist schwieriger als gedacht. Im Vergleich zu anderen Metallplatten ist es hier deutlich aufwendiger, Buchstaben sauber unterzubringen. Qualitativ gibt es nichts zu meckern. Die Platten sind hochwertig, stabil und machen genau das, wofür sie gedacht sind. Wenn alle Wörter sauber eingraviert wären, hätte ich auch vollstes Vertrauen in die Sicherheit. Ich werde mir dafür noch eine passende Lösung suchen. Mein Verbesserungsvorschlag wäre eine klarere Produktbeschreibung oder direkt ein passendes Werkzeugset als Option zum Mitkaufen. Das wäre für mich das i Tüpfelchen gewesen. Fazit: Sehr gute Qualität und grundsätzlich eine klare Empfehlung. Man sollte sich aber bewusst sein, dass Titan deutlich mehr Aufwand beim Gravieren bedeutet. Deshalb von mir persönlich 4 von 5. ##### #####
