Genuine surplus
I bought 34 size for friend, she is slim&petite, around 5’5”, fitted okay. It arrived before deadline ETA.It appears to be a genuine Italian army olive drab field jacket, that was most probably patterned in 1978. This means between 1978 and maybe late 1980s, to early 1990s, it was issued and in service. There is not much information on this militaria item. During this period Italy was a major European NATO member and national service was still mandatory, so there would have been a high turnover in the production of these jackets. Olive drab was still a popular military colour for a lot of militaries, and camouflage patterns was just becoming general issue for some NATO members. These items are likely to have been worn by several users, washed and stored for years in a warehouse, or never used dead stock. The design is uniquely Italian, there is no similarity to the US OG107 olive drab e.g. the US M65 jacket, that a lot of militaries would have adopted or modelled on, for this period. The button-cip stow pockets are narrow. The cut and contouring, and elasticated waist is very distinct, along with the sewn-on collar insignia patches, which are probably signifying general army infantry branch. The sizing is generally for a slim/petite build.I washed this on a cold washing machine cycle, with mild powder detergent, to get rid of the slight mildew aroma. Then I hung it to air dry for a day. It seemed okay. You could probably add wax or DWR treatment to give the jacket a degree of water repellency.I am very happy with this purchase, its reasonably priced and an interesting piece of militaria. My friend loved this jacket. A++ 10/10.

sizing
ordered a size 38" they are supposed be true to size, I own other Italian surplus items and they are very well fitting but the 38 was too big, so I gave it away, I ordered a 36" which is nearer a good fit but not a lot of difference to the 38" really, the second one has a lot of repairs which is fine, it's second hand but my complaint about it is that the thread used is the wrong colour, it is not always possible to get the correct colour for an old, perhaps faded item but I would suggest if the correct colour is not available they should have gone for a darker shade, the lighter thread is quite glaring, this is something I will address myself, I have the correct colour, I am not trying to dissuade anyone from buying this jacket, just explaining the 3stars, both arrived very quickly.

Cracking Value
OK, OK, its a late life crisis / second childhood thing ( I had an almost identical jacket 35yrs ago!)... but either way - a genuine Italian Army Combat Jacket for fifteen quid... whats not to like? Pre-worn (obviously), but very good condition, clean, and with no damage. Ordered 38in chest equivalent - snug on the shoulders but a pretty perfect fit. Genuinely nothing to fault, and the price is an absolute bargain.

In heaven I've found this again :-)
Perfect...had a few many years ago and used to wear them everywhere when I had them as others took a liking to and often pinched off me...Pleased to have this one now and keeping firm hold of...As I remember a light weight jacket with pocket interior holders ( great for mobile phone and wallet safety and security!) underside leg grips to hold jacket from flicking in winds and whilst doing anything active..ie mountain hiking, cycling etc and perfect for any outdoor music festivals (hence why mine went missing lol)Mid base back gusset for comfortable seat when using for above activies..also size wise perfect as can wear a chunky fisherman wool sweater underneath :-)If you need it for warmth the padded ones are better as it's all about the size as most ex military jackets are smaller than high street sizes!

Okay condition for surplus
Delivered pretty rolled and scrunched up, but what can you expect with a surplus jacket. The condition is used, I had a button missing on the right hand cuff but nothing too major - also had that 'authentic' smell but I don't really mind that. One thing to be taken into consideration is this - in the picture of the product the jacket has two upper and two lower pockets on the front, my jacket does not have the lower pockets - a little disappointing as I was looking for more of a jacket not a shirt.Still I like the style and authenticity and the price is pretty good too - overall the material is that good old fashioned sturdy military quality.
