I bought this to make a 5gal swamp cooler for burningman. I did not use the swamp cooler, but I noticed this product is moopy. It flakes off considerably with the slightest touch.

The Pad Works Well
I used this pad in a homebrew 12V evaporative cooler I built into a cooler chest to cool down our Chickens on hot days. It appears to be working well.I doubled up the pad inside, as I had relatively small surface area to work with. Water is being circulated by small immersible 12V water pump, and air pulled through the pads by a small 12V bilge fan. The temperature out from my small cooler is nearly 20 degrees below ambient temperature, and the cooler runs almost all day long on one 16aH battery!The only thing I don't like is that in my application, while recirculating the same water, the water seems to foam up and tastes bad after a while. Not sure if it's from the pads or from my water pump though.
