No pictures!
I wish I had realized that there is one other review here for the Kindle version and it clearly states there are no pictures. If I had realized that I probably wouldn't have purchased this at all. It will be useful for looking up attributes of different stones/crystals but that's it. I'll have to go elsewhere for any help identifying stones.

Beautiful Pictures
I just bought the ebook, and I'm not sure if this book has been revised, or not, but I am going to have to disagree with some of the other reviewers. THIS EBOOK HAS BEAUTIFUL, CLEAR PICTURES OF EACH CRYSTAL DESCRIBED. It contains quite a bit of useful information, and it is perfect for someone who is curious about the metaphysical properties of various crystals and wishes to be able to identify them.

Wonderful book, really bad kindle formatting
Before I start this review, I should state that this is a metaphysical book, not a reference for rockhounds kind of book.I had this book in paperback a few years ago, loaned it to someone and never saw it again. So when I saw a version for kindle on sale, I snapped it up. Honestly, if I didn't like the contents of the book so much, I'd give it one star. The section on each type of stone includes information about the stone itself, the mineral type, etc. There are separate paragraphs on metaphysical use and health use, and info on chakras as well. The pictures are mostly very good, some a bit on the small side. There are excellent chapters on how to use and cleanse your crystals, how and where to put them on your body, meditate with them, etc. All good and very useful info, but...Unbelievably, there is no interactive table of contents. Actually, there's no table of contents at all, just a short list at the front which lists the chapters, with interactive links to that chapter. The first chapter is a list of stones that are included in the book, but again, NO LINKS to the information on those stones. You have to page thru the book, or use the search function of your kindle. I'm not sure most people even know how to do this (you tap the center of the page, which will shrink to show the available functions. At the top is a small magnifying glass, that's the search function). Not having an interactive TOC is a huge problem- for example, I wanted to look up Apache Tears. If you didn't know they were actually a form of obsidian, therefore under O for 'Obsidian - Apache Tear', you'd never find them. Also, there's information on meditating with them in several locations in the book. A good TOC would have every mention of meditation, with links to those mentions. This really is a wonderful book from a wonderful author, but it's not easy to use at all. Maybe it's the former librarian in me speaking, but this is the 21st century, people. The publishers need to get their act together.

Don't buy Kindle version
Kindle version is disappointing. You can't "flip" around to check the references. The list of crystal names at the beginning is not linked to the page the crystal is on. You have to go page by page, or guess by using the scroll bar at the bottom. Pictures are there, but not good quality. This is not an easy reference to use via Kindle, and not good enough to want to buy In paperback. Get the Encyclopedia of Crystals instead.

Very helpful in bead selection for malas
I make malas for meditation. Rather than picking one or two stones, I prefer to use several different crystals in each piece. This book has been integral in choosing which beads to choose and also in writing up accurate descriptions of the pieces attributes. It is the perfect blend of spiritual and pragmatic information!!

Great reference for crystals
I am just getting into the properties of crystals and getting to know the gemstones I work with in my jewelry business. I have found this very helpful in educating myself about how crystals work and the energy surrounding each. It is an excellent resource, specially for novices like myself.

Had to buy the paper version , Kindle is not design for back and forth research
I bought the paperback book. It is nice having the ebook for when I'm out and about, but if I'm researching the paperback works better for me. What a wealth of information about Crystals, everything on crystals is there . Great reference book. If your interested in crystals or just have book!

I'm giving this a 5... but had one problem
So this is an AMAZING reference book. It is well deserved of the 5 stars, however, since this is a reference book I think it would do with some good Table of Contents updates for the Kindle version. I made my own using the highlights feature on Kindle Windows.

Can't live without it.
I love Judy Hall's work. But I really do think anyone working with crystals should have this book in their library. Easy to understand for new crystal enthusiasts as well.

Great book
I love this book the most informative I've read so far about crystal and gems! I've learned a lot and I keep it close whenever I need reference!
