Wrangler AuthenticsMen's Canvas Utility Hiker Short

Writing review six years later, because I'm getting them again
Other than a couple small frayed areas, they still look like they did in 2018. Glad they're still available. No name brand anywhere on these shorts, but they look great and fit great. I have this thing about cargo shorts that I hate: They're usually either too thick and baggy, too long, or the pockets curl way out on the edges and look stupid. These have none of that. Would rather the rear pockets not have Velcro at the tops (fitting your wallet back in them while trying to pry open the Velcro with your wallet feels ridiculous), but it's not a deal breaker. The feel, look, exact right length, and quality make up for that small negative. Recommended.

They fit!
They fit well, made of what seems to be a durable fabric, have sufficient pockets, and functional. What more can you demand of a pair of Shorts?

Great fit and quality
Bought these for my husband. He likes having all the secured pockets and said they are very comfortable.

The Ultimate Choice In Men's Shorts
I've been wearing Wrangler Hiking Shorts for many years. I prefer above-the-knee shorts, and these are just the right length. The elastic waistband is always comfortable, and belt loops are included, which isn't always the case for other shorts I've seen. These last for a long time before wear starts to show around the leg opening and waist. When they start looking too bad to wear in public, my old pairs have become bopping around the house or yard work pants. I live in Florida, so I wear these year 'round. Not a single pair I own have ever developed any holes. I used to buy these at Walmart, but they mysteriously quit carrying them. So glad Amazon still has them. In my opinion, they are the best shorts on the market.

These things are huge and inconsistent with sizing
I ordered 2 pairs of these shorts, the picture in their advert made it look like the shorts had closer to a 7” inseam, and the shorts also looked slightly tapered in the thigh. So I decided to order 2 pairs in different colors. One of the pairs I got had to be at least a size larger, and then the other pair of shorts fit nicely on my waist, but they were so loose around my thigh and they went well past my kneeIf you order these shorts and love them, I’m glad for you, but for me the sizing is way off idk what the heck they’re doing over there

Good value, but with a few design issues
I like the weight of the 100% cotton fabric. Not too heavy, not too light. They seem to be well made, and at $23.33 they were priced much lower than more-or-less similar cargo shorts sold lately by my usual source (a big outdoor products seller based in Maine). There are a few issues, though. First, the legs go down almost to the tops of my knees. That wouldn't be so bad in itself (and some people may like them long), but the front Velcro-closed pockets also go down to the hem. So if you put something hard in them (like a phone), it slaps annoyingly with every step. Maybe these huge pockets would be useful for maps on a hike (if anyone uses those anymore). The other pockets are good (though I hardly ever use back pockets). There's a small one at the top of the right slash pocket, which is convenient for car keys. The hole for the button closure is a little too small for the button.Cargo shorts seem to be hard to get right, and by the time you wear out a pair you like, they're liable to be discontinued. Wrangler is a big enough brand, maybe these will be around a while longer. Meanwhile, someone with sewing skills probably could make these just about perfect.

Comfortable but not durable.
These shorts are very comfy, but after less than 3 months the fabric is already starting to pill in places.

Saludos

Great shorts
These are great. The Velcro is strong on the pockets, they are super comfortable, and you can use a belt and they have an elasticated waist. Very pleased with them and they have held their size after a few washes and goes in the dryer too. They look great and fit true to size.

really good cargo shorts
There's not a lot to dislike about these very practical cargo shorts, if you don't mind they're not the most exciting color. It's hard to tell if the color is blue or green, it's so light and generic looking. They have 6 well thought out pockets, which is why you buy these in the first place. There's also a small extra pocket. The material isn't the heaviest, but it's in no way threadbare. Sizing was a perfect fit for me at a 32 waist without need for a belt. No trick elastic waistband to go bad.Something I really like is they are actually shorts. Many of the cargo shorts you will find are almost as long as beach pants. These ones have a 7 inch inseam. There are flashier, more expensive shorts on Amazon made with different materials that are similar to these in basic function. These ones have everything you would need for practical cargo shorts.I JUST noticed they've added 2 new colors that weren't available when I purchsed. Anthracite (dark grey), and Nutmeg (tasteful subdued yellow). These appear to be all larger sizes, at least at the moment.I forgot to mention these shorts are 100% cotton - which will be important to some people.
