Buy the big one, and equalize your sound
August 2021 update.Just a little warning to buyers. I've only had one monitor fail in my lifetime, and that was back in 1994. I bought this monitor at the end of 2018 and the other day it went click and died. After spending 40 minutes on the phone with Dell personnel who don't speak English I realized I wasn't going to get any joy. My warning to you is: buy an extended warranty. So why did I buy this monitor again? After the other one died? Because I haven't found a better monitor. The display quality is excellent, the sound is amazingly good, and as others have remarked, fewer cables are needed. I can't blame the monitor. But I do blame Dell. I have disliked the company for years, and I've had problems with them for years, and the only reason I'm going to take another gamble is the extended warranty, which is not from Dell.=========Previous review circa 2019I am revising the rating to 5 stars after using it for a while. I bought the 24" and as others remarked, I wish I had gone larger. Still it IS a very nice and crisp monitor. It has a low profile and sits against the back wall of my desk. The menu interface is easy to use and the speakers are indeed powerful.Five stars because I really like it. My comments remain ...1. Height is not adjustable.2. The speakers must be equalized. I had to drop the bass a bit and boost parts of the mid range and high end. If your PC does not include an equalizer app, try Equalizer APO for free on Sourceforge. You can see my equalization profile in the included image. Now that it's equalized the sound is excellent.3. The thin screen border seems great until you mount your clip-on camera. Then you find out your screen is obscured. It's necessary to build a spacer that can be glued, taped or clamped on the top of the screen to raise the camera about 5/8". Since I have a shop, it was easy. Maybe not for others.

Best monitor in the $200 price range
Best monitor in the $200 price range. If you are looking at this monitor you are probably on the fence like myself whether an additional $200 justifies the price of a 4k monitor. In this case I don't think so.. The monitor's color is excellent much better than my older Dell monitor. This S series monitor does have HDR which makes the color stand out. Actually better than some 4k monitors that do not have HDR. When you are a about a foot from the monitor you can see pix-elation, and most other 4k monitors are much better. However most 4k monitors are a about $200 more in price. If you can afford it buy the Dell 4k with HDR with the almost borderless screen which is the "U" series U2718Q.I'm content with sit about 3 feet from the screen so the pixelation is not that bad. The first time I hooked up my monitor certain apps looked fuzzy even though it was set to the recommended settings. After playing around a bit with the settings and "clear type" it got better but was still a bit off. After a couple of reboots everything became very sharp and clear. So don't give up right away this monitor has the capability ot be an excellent monitor. Also I'm not a fan of matte because i wanted all the detail and sharpness. The screen finish is something in between a glossy and matte finish. When I unboxed it looked like a semi matte finish but the content on the screen is very sharp and clear. When turned it off you can tell it has some anti reflective qualities. It seems Dell has mastered the perfect screen anti-reflective and sharp clear viewing even in a sunny room. Finally the sound is excellent, better than my Bose Bluetooth speaker at lower volumes, but does get a bit scratchy at higher volume.Overall this is a great and the best monitor I've seen at my computer stores, blows away any other monitor in this price range ( like AOC, Accer, Samsung all have their flaws, etc...)

Dead in 200-300 hours of use
I have a 4 monitor 20" viewsonic rig, and bought the dell monitor for watching Amazon Prime movies in the den. I mostly watch TV in the the living room on the big screen. So the Dell gets very little use.Dead in two years... thought it was the power supply, bought another throwing good money after bad. My first Dell product, and not impressed. I bought one for my sister too. She doesnt use it, good thing, I would be embarrassed. I'm pretty tech savvy, CISSP, A+, Security+ and I wont buy any other products from Dell. 25 month life is the shortest monitor life I have ever seen. JUNK

Bright, crisp picture
Great monitor, though there is a darkened fade around the edges of the monitor. It's subtle and only comes out about 1/8 of an inch from the edges, but I can see it. The backlight isn't perfectly even, but it's close enough. And the anti-glare cover is confusing. I almost pulled mine off. I originally thought it was a screen protector and tried to remove it but it was very hard so I stopped. I now have an ugly reminder of that in the corner of my screen. I wish they had some sort of indication in the box or on the screen to tell me that.Other than that, I'm pleased with the monitor. I do wish I got one size bigger now, but oh well.

Nice monitor but speakers are inadequate.
I purchased this to use with my Surface Pro 3 when I am at the desk. It connects to the SP3 by using a direct port to HDMI cable and this works well. The monitor screen is vibrant and looks good. However, I only gave it 4 stars because the built in speakers are really weak. I watch a fair amount of instructional and Youtube videos and if the room is absolutely quiet, the volume is still not that loud even at the highest level. If the TV is on, forget it. I attached a bluetooth speaker via the 3 mm head phone jack on the monitor to the bluetooth speaker and now the sound level is much more substantial. You could also hook up a pair of computer speakers. Either way, you will need one or the other if you want more than low level volume.

Solid Monitor
I've been using this thing for almost a year and a half at the time of writing this review. It's held up really well and has been a really solid monitor. The speaker was unexpected and a fantastic addition. I was using a 4k monitor before I got this one, so I was initially a little miffed at how everything looked, but I've gotten used to using 1080p again and there's nothing lacking with it. You really won't go wrong with this monitor. For reference, I got mine when it was $179 USD.
