Really happy with this book. The producer put a ton of thought into structuring it in such a way that early writers can have an engaging experience interacting with the book. The order of education makes a lot of sense, starting with the inclusion of contest-winning essay excerpts at the front of the book, serving to provide inspiration and motivation for the lessons that follow. Good use of graphics helps to focus kids’ attention and concepts are presented using useful analogies so that the learning experience isn’t overly academic.Overall, this is an effective creative writing skill-builder and is a refreshingly unique take on the subject that really makes the learning experience an interactive and engaging one. Highly recommend!

As a children's author and creative writing teacher for kids & teens for over 15 years, there is nothing as wonderful as watching a student's eyes light up as they proudly share their writing. Given the right tools, most students LOVE creative writing, but sadly it's lacking in the schools. Aside from the focus & pressure to teach expository writing at a very young age (which often extinguishes any love for writing), many educators are uncomfortable teaching the subject, simply because they don't know how to go about it. I am satisfied with my purchase. Writing is a hard piece to crack when kids are young and not motivated writers. My 2nd and 5th grade liked the book and are willing to use it for their creative writing, which I take it as a great success.The workbook is properly designed and informative to self-guide kids to improve their creative writing skills. It is different from some other writing books that my kids have used, which are lacking engaging content with poor content support. The authors definitely understand and know the way to introduce mechanics, vocabulary and writing strategy to young writers. Highly recommend!

We ordered this book having tried others already, and it has simply been the best/only book to get through to our son in grade 4. Having had difficulty responding to creative writing lessons in school, this book has been an absolute godsend. I’d recommend this to everyone and anyone looking for something that can get through to kids grade 4/5.
