Not for use by a professional I experimented so you don't have to
This is a well-made, attractive, piece of leather-work. But it is not suitable for use if you are an electrician or handyman who likes to carry a few tools in a back pants pocket. I owned another well-known brand of pocket protector for decades. For electrical work I carry a linesman's pliers and two screwdrivers in it. Use it whenever I don't need a full belt or bag. While this is well-made it is not suitable for that use. The old protector was made of considerably heavier leather and riveted around three-sides. It was made so that the rear piece was bent out from the inner piece so there was always a 1/2" opening to drop the tools into. This protector is always closed, and even with the small overlapping leather piece to go on the outside of the pants pocket I had to open the protector with a finger each and every time I put a tool in it. With the Klein, or similar, it was just drop the tool. This became really annoying after just a few minutes of use. I own several H&D leather products and love them. Not this one. If your a pro, don't buy it. Cheers.

The BEST "Pocket Protector"!!!
So, I bought this for my husband in early May 2018. He is a writer and consultant/analyst who works in film, writes novels, and we are both informal editors both of his works and the works of our global circle. We proof their work when asked and he notes them before they are sent to professional editors then published. He wears clothing with lots of pockets for small note pads and pens (and many other things) and we had been searching for a nice leather "pocket protector". I waited this long to write a review so I could give a review based on a truly tested product. These are AMAZING!!!Most of the time he wears those expensive fishing shirts made by Columbia. From time to time, he won't cap a pen well enough, or won't click it "off", and ink will leak onto his shirt. We had an incident bad enough with one of his favorites and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. We went in search of a leather pocket protector. He did not want a cheap plastic one. For a long time, there was only one leather one that held 2 pens...that would not work. And finally, back in May, I searched again and stumbled on to Hide & Drink. I cannot tell you how much we love their products! We found this one and the smaller version. We bought both. This one works perfectly for him...so much so that we already have 2 of the smaller and 3 of these! The fact that he wanted one in multiple colors and sizes says it all. These DO fit in his shirt pockets on his Columbia fishing shirts. They also fit in the breast pocket of the Cabela's safari vest he wears (photos included). They also fit in the back pocket of his pants, though he NEVER uses this there. He usually wears cargo pants and if he needed to put them in his pants, this would go in the side cargo pocket, and it fits there also. But he never uses it in pants. They fit both in length and width. Perfectly.Functionality - They work great! They fit plenty of his pens. He, yet again, did not cap a pen well and slipped it in his pocket (inside the protector. The pen leaked. No ink got on his shirt! The leather did its job and soaked up all the ink on the inside. The thickness of it prevented the ink from seeping down through to his shirt! No more scrubbing stubborned ink stains for me!If you are debating on buying this...stop. Just buy it. It more than does the job, fits plenty of pens, or whatever you choose to put in it, and it stops ink from ruining shirt. Hide & Drink offers excellent products and they are handmade. Each item comes with a little black card with the name of the craftsman/woman that made it. A wonderful personal touch that is missing from so many things these days. All of their products are of excellent quality. We have key rings, earbud holders, a journal cover, and both sizes of pocket protectors. All of these products are leather and come in a handy little burlap bag with a leather string to close. They are handy for paper clips, and the one this came in holds my husband's hand held voice recorder and its accessories.I'm serious. These are absolutely wonderful. Just buy it!

High Quality!
This pocket protector from Hide & Drink is a high quality item, despite the low price tag. As a maintenance mechanic, I have a multi screwdriver and small pair of pliers in my back pocket all day, for all the quick fixes. Eventually, these would wear through the bottom of my back pocket and I would be sewing all my jeans. This item was the perfect solution! It's thick enough to be durable, yet flexible enough to fit various tools without excessive force. Perfectly fits the back pocket of a pair of men's Wrangler carpenter jeans. If I somehow lost this, I'd order another one immediately. For any future leather item purchases, I know Hide & Drink will be the first place I look.

Well made leather pouch
Was looking for something that I wasn't sure what I wanted. This was perfect! When mowing, I have to drive under many trees/bushes that inevitably get in the way. I've had them steal my hat, knock my hearing protector off, etc.I got this and riveted it to the side of my mower so I always have these shears handy. Mockins Professional Heavy Duty Garden BYPASS Pruning Shears, Tree Trimmers Secateurs, Hand Pruner, Stainless Steel Blades | 8 mm Cutting CapacityNow, as I go, I can quickly grab the shears and snip off the offending branches, toss them in the grass for "mulching", and continue on my way!

Archery Pocket Quiver...
I was looking for a pocket quiver to manage my arrows a bit better, and keep them from banging around as I walk with a hip quiver. This looked a lot like the ones that cost twice as much, and I thought I'd take a chance. I had it at the range today, and it works perfectly. I had 6 arrows with field points in it, but it has room for more.I used it in the back pocket of cargo shorts without any trouble. It is a tighter fit than in jeans, but it does fit. The pocket measures just under 5" across, so if your pockets are at least 5" it should squeeze in there.I'll post on durability once I've used it a bit more. It does look very well made, and while the leather is a bit softer than I might choose for a quiver it is thick. I'm guessing it will last a very long time.Edit 12.24.19:I have used this for my arrows for a few months now, and it has performed very well. Recently as I was walking my arrows started to move around in the pocket. The leather has broken in a bit, and now the arrows aren't held as tightly as before. I punched 3 holes down the middle of it, and hammered in rivets very similar to the ones that came on it at the corners. So, now my pocket protector has two smaller pockets that hold my arrows very tightly. I suspect that this will fix the problem for good. I loos about 1-2 arrows of capacity, but I don't need to carry a dozen arrows in my pocket. It could hold 10 the way it is now, and I normally don't carry more than 6.
