Yes definitely. I travel extensively with my cat inside. We go biking and hiking together and the backpack is as sturdy as can be!

i use a different carrier that is soft and 11 inches in height, it seems to work just fine:), the dimensions of my soft carrier are 18x11x11

I would say 26 to 27 lbs . Our pug is 26 lbs and that is comfortable for him .
