My daughter suffers with anxiety and this affects her sleep, particularly getting to sleep. I bought the 6kg version for her (11yr old) and it has worked wonders. She loves the added feeling of security and says the weighted blanket takes away her worries as soon as she gets under it.If you’re thinking ‘should I get one?’ The answer is yes.I put a quilt cover over it as it’s sponge clean only but don’t let that put you off.

I’ve seen a lot in the media about weighted blankets so decided to give one a try. Weighing in at around 6kg, I found it to be a decent weight though I had trouble lifting it due to back issues. First impression is that it isn’t quite as soft as I was expecting but it’s still reasonably squishy. I draped the blanket over me and felt instant warmth but not to the point of getting sweaty. I fell asleep about ten minutes after that and it was good sleep.My only issue with it is the laundry instructions. It can only be hand washed which is a bit ridiculous considering how heavy it is dry, let alone how much it would weigh wet. And you can’t tumble dry it either. That makes for a bit of a nightmare scenario on wash days. It also can’t be dry cleaned. None of this information was given in the product description. If it had been, I probably wouldn’t have bought it… well, them, since I bought two. But that said, I might just try putting it inside a duvet cover to keep it a bit cleaner.Overall it is a good product, warm and cosy… definitely going to make it harder to get out of bed in the winter months!
