Installation is pretty simple. Note, if you were previously using the fanimation remote with the receiver installed within the fan dome, remove it. this is a wired switch so if you leave the remote received, you'll have some flickering light and odd behavior. it made my lights flicker in the next room until i removed the remote receiver.A couple positives: it works as it should as a multi speed fan control and separate light dimmer. the white color matches your typical faceplate and other white switches.A couple negatives but none that are deal breakers: it makes a faint buzzing noise-- i've actually heard this on many dimmers so not unusual. the depth is large so you have to pack the wires in behind it and if your wall box is crowded then it could take some time. lastly, you can turn the lights on by pushing either the large "light" on/off button or the small light dimmer buttons. When pushing the large "light" button it turns on at the previous light brightness from the last time you used it. then you can adjust the dim. but for the fan, the large "fan" button doesn't turn it on. you need to use the small fan speed buttons to literally turn it on. but then the large "fan" button will turn it off. this is the biggest annoyance as it might not be intuitive to a guest using it for the first time.

The color doesn’t match most existing switch plates. Loses connection with the fan periodically. Hardwiring is a more reliable solution.

have been trying to call fanimation for multiple months now to consult on how to install this since the instructions aren't clear.After my return window passed, I finally got someone on the phone, only to find out that this controller won't work if you want to use the remote that comes with your fan.would have been really useful to know before buying... or before the return window closed. now I'm stuck with this switch that I have zero use for. what a waste!
