Good resource
As expected, the updated version. Don’t buy the expensive remote kits....just use small remote-size pieces of wood. The students can use sand paper, paint them black. We used file stickers for the buttons, which they wrote on themselves.

Perfect for ADHD kiddos
We bought this for my 5 year old with anxiety and ADHD and have encouraged the school to use it as well. We are so thankful for this book as it teaches so many great lessons. Some people thought there were too many "buttons" but I thought it was fine. I even had my kiddo calling his brain "amazing" just like they do in the book after a few readings. I was surprised I had never heard of this book as a self-regulation tool. We have tried so man self-regulation programs and this is the only one that sticks. THANK YOU!

I was disappointed in this book
I was disappointed in this book. I was hoping that it would have the exercises that the original book had and that this would just be a newer version. It has none of the original exercises. They have to be purchased in a separate book. The book is too long for kiddos with executive skill problems. Overall, it may have been okay if it included the original exercises and was just a newer version, but having to buy a separate book of exercises to use is just a waste of money.

Awesome book for impulsive kiddos!
I'm a child & family therapist, and I work with a lot of kids with ADHD & other impulse control issues. I absolutely LOVE this book! I have the 1st version also, and did use it. But it was harder to get kids to engage with the simple black & white drawings. This new version with more engaging drawings in full color is a delight! When I read it with kids, they almost always engage with it immediately. The book's metaphor helps impulsive kids understand the crucial idea that they can self monitor & use skills to change their behavior. I also love that it models being ok with making mistakes - so many of these kiddos hear so much blame & shame.I do wish it had the activities from the 1st version. Though I didn't use those much, because kids just didn't engage as well with the 1st version's social story.
