Best Iron Supplement I Have Tried Yet
I take this with Pure Encapsulations - B12 5000 Liquid, too, which helps iron work even better. I have fibromyalgia and a long history of intestinal issues that keep me from fully absorbing nutrients and vitamins from my food and regular supplements. I have to take liquid and other high quality, Pharma Grade supplements prescribed by my chiropractor and nurse practitioner. About three months ago I started feeling worse than usual. Dizzy, nauseated, more fatigued than the usual CFS and FM, tired and some of the numbness and tingling I tend to get was happening again. My blood work revealed I was again very low in iron and anemic. But the problem was despite all my medical and natural health doctors efforts we had never found anything that worked real well. Prescription iron irritated my stomach, did not work and usually had too powerful a laxative added that gave me problems. It got so bad while we tried to figure something out (again, even diet was not helping) I wound up in bed for several days again. We even tried liquid infant formula but the taste was so bad I gagged on it. I researched for a good few hours before stumbling across this. I had my chiropractor take a look at it (she is very fussy about supplements) and she approved giving it a shot. I started taking two tablets twice a day after meals. Within two weeks I felt so much better. And they taste great which was a major plus. Will be interested to see what my latest blood work reveals. I will repost and update at some point. Give it a try. Along with diet and being careful to avoid things that disrupt the iron from absorbing (you can find info like this on the internet, red wine and sugar are obvious examples) this seems to boost the iron up easily. There is a slight aftertaste about an hour after that you may notice here and there but not anything like some of the other horrific others I have tried and you just have to expect that it is pretty hard to avoid with iron supplements in general. Better than feeling sick.

Tastes Great!
I was not happy when told I needed to add another pill to my already long list of “dailies” but this one wasn’t bad at all! It tastes just like children’s orange flavored melt in your mouth aspirin! I almost look forward to this one.

Updated Review 3/21/17...changing from a 1 star to a 4 star I recently decided to try my bottle of iron again. This time I swallowed it like a pill... this product is marketed for people who can't swallow pills, so for many taking it this way might not be an option. I was determined to make this work because 1. I have a bottle of 90 and 2. carbonal iron is suppose to be the most bio-available and easiest on the stomach 3. my anemia was getting worse and worse. So swallow it I did. It wants to disintegrate the moment it touches liquid so I just swallowed fast and it hasn't been a problem. It does cause my stomach to be upset but nothing near the cramps the melt in your mouth way caused when I tried it for 3 days. The other thing I did differently is I took it in the middle of dinner (for me my largest meal and highest protein meal) as apposed to breakfast. They say its not advisable to take it like that because you lose some absorption but less absorption is better than debilitating stomach cramps. I could feel an improvement after a few days with my anemia symptoms...low blood pressure came up a bit and my high pulse rate slowed a bit (this happens when you don't have enough red blood cells or the platelets are too large and your heart beats faster in an attempt to pump the blood through)....telling me the chewable iron that I previously was using, while side affect/bad taste free, wasn't absorbing as well as this. I have a mal-absorption problem with my stomach that causes it to not absorb nutrients from my food because I destroyed it with over use of antibiotics. I am changing my previous rating to reflect this new development and I even ordered a bottle today for my daughter in California who has anemia as well. I do still wish it had worked as a melt in your mouth tablet and while its not as great a solution as I would hope for, the side affects are manageable. and I'm willing to concede that maybe I won't find an iron that works and is side affect free. I had sought a melt or chew solution so I didn't have a pill sitting in my stomach dissolving, which for me is painful. I am very hopeful that this will continue to work and is far preferable to the liquid iron my Dr prescribed me. I am leaving off 1 star for the horrible taste if I used it as a disintegrating pill. Previous review... Really disappointed in this product . While it did disintegrate easily... It had a horrible iron taste to it that was unmistakable. I have a very very sensitive stomach (due to years of over-prescribing antibiotics and a complete lack of positive Flora in my stomach)... this had me curled up in bed with stomach cramps first day. If you have any stomach problems or disorder where your stomach doesn't process vitamins this vitamin is not for you. Unfortunately I am handicapped and unable to drive so returning this product would mean a trip to a shipping location that I can't do so I'm just stuck with it. I will go back to the iron chewable that I previously reviewed that worked much better and had zero iron taste or side effects. I let myself get lured to this product because more came in the bottle and I thought it would save me money in the long run... big mistake!
