Great for the price
Got this because the stove at my rental took 30 minutes to boil water. This works great and heats up very fast. I got two of them and one does make an unusual noise compared to the other. But they both seem to work fine. If I had one complaint it would be how sensitive the on/off button is. I accidentally turn it on all the time while trying to move things around in a small kitchen. It’s not really dangerous though because it won’t make any heat unless a steel pot or pan is on it. So it’s not a safety issue, just more of an annoyance.

Too many beeps - Loud fan
Induction cooking is all the rage and we are considering getting an induction range top. Prior to spending that kind of money I thought it would be a good idea to get an induction unit to see if we could adapt from our Gas range. The pros: It heats well. The surface DOES get hot but not as hot as the pan and cleanup is a breeze. The digital temperature adjust allows enough options to select the right temp for cooking eggs, steak, what have you.The cons: This thing is LOUD. The fan is a 1990s computer fan loud. in the 50-60db range and runs continuously. Even worse; every change including changing temperature makes the unit give a loud and harsh beep. Trying to cook breakfast in the morning in a relaxed manner is not possible with this unit. It is downright miserable with all the noise and constant beepings.Bottom line: Glad I spent the few dollars on this thing and now know what to look for if we do buy an induction range. We'll probably send it to college for dorm-room cooking and then store it for the next 20 years in our basement.

Doesn’t heat up the house.
My stainless steel pans didn’t work on this but I have some cast iron pans that work great. The smaller pans work best cuz the burner itself is small. Apparently there are stainless steel pans out there that work but they must be magnetic. Anyway I can simmer something for an hour and it doesn’t heat up the kitchen which is wonderful in the summer months.

Blew up
I bought this for hot pot only. Used for the 3rd time, it blew up. It sparked 🔥 fire, and smell burn.
