Thrilling, informative, masterful research and storytelling!
Just A brilliant read. It's hard to appreciate just how spectacularly successful the DH Mosquito was when looking back over 80 years of legend and history, but Rowland White succeeds in conveying some of the sheer magic of flying and operating this revolutionary aircraft which couldn't have appeared at a more opportune time.Sleek, impossibly fast and unlimited in versatility, this account really does bring this fabulous aeroplane to life in its proper context.Beautifully written, the final account of Operation CARTHAGE reads like a page-turning thriller.A really super book that should be essential reading for any aviation or history fan.

Mosquito
A well researched and exciting book to read for any aviation enthusiast, or any one looking for a good read. Its not just about the aircraft but also has fascinating and gripping true life stories on the people behind the aircraft and its missions..

Fascinating
As other reviews indicated I was already prepared for the focus to be very much on the Danish resistance and the role that the Mosquito played through it's actions. But more is covered and the unique and often forgotten abilities of this unique aircraft is brought to life as well as the crews that flew it. It is often detailed and moves to an almost minute by minute account of actions; at times this can be confusing for those without technical knowledge. So perhaps, it could have benefited from a bit more editing. However, well written and a worthwhile read, and its partnership with the Mustang. Good glossary, illustrations and index towards the end (maps at beginning) - always a bit more difficult to access on Kindle than on paper copy.

An adventure story, not just for the aviation enthusiast.
This is my second attempt at reviewing this very good book. I think, perhaps the American bots don't recognise well-used British terms from the musketry stable. Oh well, try again.I am not a great fan of aeroplanes, but the Mosquito was my favourite Airfix model as a child and still is my preferred WWll plane. So I started this book thinking I'd be skipping through a vaguely interesting, if dry, technical history. I was wrong. True it starts with the technical history, but it quickly turns into a Boy's Own adventure story. In the main, the book chronicles the close cooperation between the Mosquito Squadrons and the beleaguered Danish Resistance. The stories are well-researched personal testimonies and told at pace, a rollercoaster of ups and downs. There is much material and many stories including the mistakes (not my original phrase) alongside the successes. The mixed fortunes raid on the Shellhus is covered in gruesome detail.All-in-all, a surprisingly entertaining history lesson that I thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed. Thank you Mr White.

A gripping account of the men who flew this legendary aircraft
A very well researched and readable book, which gives insight into the little known situation in occupied Denmark, and the efforts by the RAF to support the resistance. Incredible tales of skill and bravery by those who took part.

Great book
I have always heard about the Spitfire and Hurricane planes but was not aware of the range and speed of the Mosquito. Very well written and enlightening.

Good read. Not quite what I expected.
Well told story about Danish Resistance and Mosquito raids, but not much detail on design, development and overall service career of the Mosquito. Still a good read.

Not much about the Mosquito.
An interesting book, but with very little about the actual Mosquito. Mostly about resistance movement in Denmark and the bombing attack on Gestapo HQ.

Not a book about the Mosquito.
While this is a well-written account of Danish resistance during WWII, the Mosquito plays a small and important part at the end of the war. At least 2/3 of this nearly 400 page book deals with the struggles of the Danish resistance and the German attempts to suppress it.It is not a history of the Mosquito aircraft.Recommended with reservations.

Amazing book, I was hooked!
Amazing book, I could not put it down very descriptive and well written, focusing more on the secret operations rather than the mechanics, brilliant!

Fuorviante
