I'm pretty happy with this camera. I bought a USB microscope like this at least 15 years ago and it was great. I used it so often that the cord finally frayed and broke. I've bought at least 3 others trying to replace it and I have not been happy with any of them. This one is the replacement that I was looking for. - Works on Linux. Plug and play. No messing around. - Nice quality image, sharp, decent color, two levels of usable magnification. - The focus control is smooth and easy to turn one handed. - Frame rate is great when zooming or moving around. No lag. - Wired only. No WIFI. The WIFI microscopes I had were useless. Way too much lag. - USB C, A, micro and lightning connectors built in.

This camera works really well for looking up close at anything, be it plants (which is what I use it for), skin, under your nails whatever you want!!! You will be impressed and surprised with the quality of vision that this produces. The cord is cool that it comes with as it can turn from usb to a microusb. Comes with a stand for if you don't have a steady hand and want to place the object beneith it. This is by far the best magnifier that I own and I have a few. It's at least 70% stronger then what was my best one, and I had thought that one was impressive until I got this bad boy. My only complaints are that I wasn't able to get it to work with my phone none of the suggested apps seemed to work, but the 2nd I plugged into my chrome book and switchsd from front to back cam it worked like a charm. No changing of settings or app downloads or program installs needed. I also would like this better if it had an on and off switch for the light and also if it had a black light feature. Also would be cool if it was optional to use as a traditional microscope, not needing to be attached to a electronic device. But it is nice not needing to peer down a small hole this is alot easier on the eyes and gives you a wayyyy bigger picture, also with a picture ;-) (or video if you want.) With fantastic clarity. So I definitely recommend even my negative opinions can be turned to positives with this handly device.

I purchased this light to look at the trichome development on my plants. If you know what trichomes are then.....well, you know what I am growing. Anyway, it does a pretty good job and is much better than other hand held scopes I have used in the past which did not have a USB connection of any kind so no pictures. Using this allows me to evaluate pictures and compare them to previous photos or share them with other growers - which is all very cool. That said, for my application it is very awkward to use based on the orientation of the controls and how they operate - which took some time to figure out. Apparently I am not the only one too since there have been a lot of questions posted about this little device regarding the apps to use with it, the operation of the device, compatibility with other devices, etc. I knew all that going in but considering the price, I figured it was worth the risk. What makes it awkward is having to hold my phone, which is a Galaxy6, and flower in one hand and use the scope with the other - which in itself is about a two hand operation. It is very easy to lose the sight picture when you just move your finger or thumb ever so slightly to push a button or move the zoom roller - or both, which is what is required to focus. So yeah.....awkward is an understatement. However, I don't think it was meant to be used in the fashion I am using it. Still, it could be designed a little better either way. I am using the OTG app which is recommended by the manufacturer. Again, not an ideal application, but it does the job once you figure out how to use it. Update I have been using it now for about a month and overall I am pretty pleased with it. Especially the last few days since I finally figured out how the controls work. (Starting to sense a theme here?) Specifically the zoom and focus operation. If you hold the focus button down and use the roller it adjusts the focus. So you zoom in first with the roller only, then hold the button and use the roller to focus at that magnification level. Not easy to do with one hand like I am using it, but it works great now that I figured this out. Suffice is to say it's a bit tricky. However, it does a nice job of magnification. I think 1000x is a bit of an exaggeration. I don't know that for sure, but it's more than adequate for my purposes and much better than the 100x jeweler loops and other basic models I have used before. The picture quality is surprisingly good. I am not sure on the resolution, but based on the size of the pictures I would guess 640x480 which is fine. They are in PNG format which is not ideal, but I was able to download a free batch file converter so no big deal there. Taking all that into consideration and factoring in the price, I think a four star rating is about right and I can recommend it for anyone looking for a scope to evaluate trichomes. I have not used it for anything else, but I suspect it could be used for many applications and probably a lot easier when you can use both hands to operate it.

I am quite impressed by the quality of this microscope for the price. When the software works (will get to that in a second), the whole package works flawlessly. Great quality from the microscope, zoom works great, light is more than adequate. Really, the hardware is great. The software, on the other hand - is awful. They say for Android (I have a Pixel 2XL) to get a handful of apps. I installed each of them - and could only get one to work. And it worked intermittently. I'd plug the camera in and I'd say like 10% of the time the app recognized the camera. That said, when it worked, it worked well. Since the Android apps didn't work great - I decided to install the windows software. My laptop doesn't have a CD drive, so I used the link provided. It took me to a google drive link (sketchy) - which worked fine. Downloaded, installed, and it opened and picked up the camera immediately - and works perfectly fine. MY MAIN BEEF is that after I installed the app - I keep getting a Windows message about there not being a default mail client installed. I don't know what the hell that's about - but I don't think the timing is a coincidence. I've ran malbytes anti-malware and windows defender, but it didn't pick anything up. I'm pretty sure the software installed a virus.

My wife and I bought this for our young children as a way to be introduced to the microscopic world, and I am more than impressed. Not only that, but my kids are absolutely entranced by what they are now able to see. My house runs exclusively on Linux (Kubuntu on our desktops, and Debian on our home server), and this Microscope works with VLC out of the box. Just load VLC, select Media, then Open Capture Device, then Video device name (mine was /dev/video1), then select NTSC as the video standard, then press Play. Any Video4Linux software should be able to drive the microscope, through. I used VLC right off the bat, because I knew it would work. Before buying the microscope, I had read the reviews. There was a lot of negativity about the stand, but I have found it to be adequate. So far, though, my kids have eschewed the stand for free-hand use, so I haven't really put it through any type of serious testing. The convenience of being able to just move the microscope from subject to subject as if it were just a pen to be used to write on different surfaces is fantastic. I have only ever used old-style microscopes that sat on a desk, and required subjects to be put onto slides that were then inserted into the microscope via slides. That seems so ancient now. We've had it hooked up to one of my kids' computers for about half an hour, and they're already arguing about who gets to use it, so I immediately ordered another one. My older son told me it's better than virtual reality (we bought Oculus Quests recently), though I'm pretty sure that sentiment is just because of the newness of the microscope. Being able to see everything on the computer monitor has been awesome! The images are clear, and being able to record videos of what the microscope sees is addictive. Once the kids are done with it, and I get a turn, I'll post a video showing the microscope's abilities. The LED's around the camera provide a VERY good source of light for the microscope, and help to produce excellent imagery.

We recommend following the written instructions - go to the website to download the drivers and/or programs/apps to get it working. Once that was done - easily, mind you - we were up and running. (We originally tried installing the program/app from the provided CD. We weren't able to install the programs or really understand what needed to be done with the CD... The initial set up was disappointing and a struggle. Once we went to the website, it was a quick, easy installation.) The kids are having a ball using it and exploring different things (fabrics, lichen, wings, raisins and more). Of course we would wish for a higher resolution image. But, that also, of course, would come with a higher price. If you were to ever print anything, it would probably be roughly a 2"x2" image (print quality). For viewing on screen and sharing with friends/family, this isn't an issue. (Picture quality: 5 stars - captures clear images, provided the microscope is steady.)_ The only thing that really caught us off guard was that the "zoom" isn't really a "zoom." It's a "focus" setting. (Not a problem, just worded weird for what we expected it to do.) (Zoom: 3 stars - It's not really a "zoom." It's a "focus.") Built in light: 5 stars - works great. and love the dimming feature. Bottom line: It's a great item for the kids to use in exploring their surrounding environment on a whole new level. We think it's worth the purchase. (We have only used the PC/desktop version. yet to explore the mobile device option.)

The _microscope_ itself is excellent for the price - at least image quality-wise. If the resolution were higher I'd be willing to pay $100 for the endoscope itself, but since it's basically VGA resolution (640x460) - not even 1 megapixel - it's really worth less than $50. But, the image quality is quite good so for IQ I grant 4 stars. The depth of field is very narrow, but that's NOT a negative, because this is typical of microscopes. My antique but still very usable lab microscope has an extremely narrow field of view. The built-in light is very good and is adjustable via a dial on the USB cord. The stand on the other hand, is a piece of poop; I mean, it's insultingly bad. They used an acrylic slipring which clips into a slot on the microscope, and it broke the second time I inserted the scope into the band. The issue is they used what appears to be acrylic with a very thin molding that is actually slightly narrower at the center where the ball mount extends from the clip, so at the post the stress point is extemely high. The acrylic has zero fibre for reinforcement, and is very brittle, so it snaps in half at the midpoint of the post. To fix it you need to use epoxy resin and either milled glass or simply glass mat to give it strength. The mount is so bad, I will echo another review that the seller should PAY the customer $50 to accept the mount with the camera, so really, the real price for this macro camera should really be free with an instant rebate of $25.00. The mount really is that bad, because I guarantee on the first day you will no longer have a microscope, but merely a macro camera with an extremely thin depth of field. And, the problem with using it as a macro camera with this thin depth of field, is the controls are designed for stand use, not handheld use, so even if you are a pianist or keyboardist with large hands and good dexterity and can reach an octave plus two notes on a piano, you will still struggle to use the camera one-handed and be able to adjust focus AND be able to snap the photo. To accomplish this, you must hold the camera very awkwardly, such that it becomes very difficult to aim and center the subject into the objective's view. So the bottom line is, this kit as sold is worth negative $25.00. The kit really is that infuriating between the mount design and durability (or really, lack of engineering, QC, and durability) and the control layout it ruins the experience. If the shutter/"snap" button were placed next to the focus wheel, integrated into the focus wheel (like a mouse scrollbutton (scroll + push) or car tilt+push steering wheel infotainment control), or otherwise redesigned for single-hand operation, I really wouldn't care that the mount is only going to work for two or three uses and will be broken on the first day. Did I mention the mount for the stand really stinks? In case I forgot to mention it, the stand is insultingly poor quality and durability and is likely to break on the first day - perhaps even the very first use if you are not very careful with your equipment. Don't treat it like you do commercial or lab gear because the mount is a delicate, fragile snowflake made of pixie dust. It may as well be made of an old-school propane lantern mantle which crumbles into dust with the slightest possible touch. And the camera mount is fragile, so be careful with it because it will probably break on the first day. In case I forgot to mention it, the camera mount is not sturdy, so be careful with it. By the way, the camera mount is pretty lousy. I just felt I should throw that out there, so that you're aware. (I'll be looking for STLs for a replacement mount or designing one when my 3D printer arrives - I wish that reworking cheap Chinese goods wasn't the norm - even if it's cheap and from China, it should last at least as long as the warranty period without having to reengineer it)

This digital microscope is OUTSTANDING and very easy to use. The capability of this little technological tool is awesome and you would have paid several hundred dollars for this capability just few years ago. First off - I read a lot of the negative comments before buying and I attribute almost all of them to operator error, incompetence, or obsolete computer/phone equipment that they tried to connect with the camera. I read through the directions before starting to install the camera and while in need of some editing of the English, they were pretty clear and easy for me to understand. My laptop is a Dell with i5 processor, 8 gig of RAM, and Windows 10. I installed the drivers from the enclosed CD and they worked fine. It is not "Plug and Play", but you simply open the CD folder and click on "autorun.exe" then "setup" and then "install". Pretty easy even for this old guy. There was no need to load the "Dotnetfix" file mentioned in the directions because it is already in Windows 10. A lot of people mentioned the small stand in their negative reviews as being cheap and useless. Again, I believe this is 100% operator error because the stand works just fine. If you set it up correctly the camera is almost vertical in the stand and the camera is between you and the stand base. It DOES NOT tip over if you have it positioned this way. I attached a couple photos of a ballpoint pen and a bug that I took with no additional editing. The software has lots of editing options that I am still exploring. I also recorded a video of the bug as I moved it with a pen. The video file was too large to attach to this review, but this is an incredible capability to be able to shoot video of a microscopic image. Overall, I rate this microscope 5 Stars and plan to buy one for each of my grandchildren since this is truly an incredible scientific tool for a super low price.

I use this camera for observe trichomes in order to determine when I should cut down my plants. It does the job but it is not easy capture a satisfactory photo. The user needs to zoom in on the trichomes, keep the scope at the right distance in order to focus, dim the scope light, keep a steady hand and tap the camera capture button in my camera app on my phone. I wish I had a third hand in order to capture the photos I need when capturing a good enough photo. For capturing 10 bud sites on 4 plants, reserve 1 hour of your time trying to gather close to 75 shots of pictures where only 15 photos will be clear & focused on the trichomes while dimming the microscope light appropriately. The zoom button on the camera does not work with the windows amcap application and the following apps: USB_CAMERA, OTG View, AN98, CameraFi, CameraFi2. The snap button only works on the AN98 app on my Samsung SM-N910V note 4 phone Android 5.1.1. It was difficult to install as a camera device. I had to go to device manager and remove the device in windows 7 and reinstall it but its not a big deal because I only use my phone when capturing the photos I need from my plants. With that being said, I can't think of an alternative solution that would be as cheap as this (30 CAD) with this kind of photo quality that would determine when I should be cutting down my plants. Although, I would prefer another solution where I did not spend as much time or effort trying to get a good enough photo of the trichomes.

This microscope is extremely useful for showing details of many objects, without the need to destroy the object. However, prepared objects between slides can be studied as well. Attached a screen copy with S-EYE (the software) connected to the Jiusion USB microscope. You see dried coffee on a plastic slide. The microscope is adjusted to about 1000 times. A disadvantage is that the transparant plastic safety cap at the front of the microscope should be removed first to reach 1000 times.

Bis zum kleinen Klapp-Ständerchen ist das USB-Mikroskop einfach, aber praktisch! Dank UVC-Standard kommt es mit jedem möglichen Betriebssystem zurecht und kann mit einem beliebigen Webcam-Viewer oder ähnlichem benutzt werden. Die eingebauten LEDs sorgen für genügend Helligkeit und der Fokus-Trieb ist leichtgängig. Die Bildqualität hat mich positiv überrascht: Mit meinen Kindern habe ich früher Insekten mit wesentlich kostspieligeren Geräten angeschaut. Für meine Enkel habe ich nichts mehr in der mittleren Preisklasse gefunden, mehrere 100 € waren mir aber zu viel. Also mal dieses Mikroskop ohne große Erwartungen versucht. - Es hat die Qualität meines alten deutlich übertroffen.

Lo probé en una laptop y no tuve problema alguno lo reconoció de inmediato y después me dio imagen la verdad me quede sorprendido lo fácil que es de usar y sobretodo la calidad de imagen, pude ver de cerca una hormiga y logre verla de una manera nunca vista, al igual con un billete es fácil ver detalles que el ojo humano no logra captar, tiene muchas muchas funciones yo lo estoy ocupando para soldar componentes de celulares y me super facilita el trabajo y mas con los 8 leds que son de gran ayuda y me gusta mucho por que puedes controlar el nivel de luz de bajo hasta alto. La caja viene con instrucciones para instalar pero todo es intuitivo y no fue necesario en mi ncaso. Cuando la cámara se conecta a un USB en la computadora, las luces de la lente se encienden y en ese caso podemos estar seguros que esta lista la cámara para funcionar. En la caja viene un adaptador tipo c para celular que es realmente útil y viene ademas con un mini soporte aunque se cae a veces pero cumple con el propósito. En realidad me gusto bastante y volvería a comprar mas microscopios están en un excelente precio y sobre todo tiene una buena calidad, los botones del costado uno ayuda para hacer zoom y el otro no lo eh ocupado creo que es para tomar captura.
