Donnie Darko Soundtrack

Donnie Darko was,is and will always be one of my favourite movies. so of course I had to buy the soundtrack. You CAN always download the soundtracks from the internet or convert videos to mp3 but the CD has a much better quality. Some songs sounded a little creepy,some sounded quite grand or just a bit of loneliness.My favourites are:1.Gretchen Ross (Who also happens to be Donnie's "girlfriend" in the movie)2.Mad World (Alternate version)3.Cellar Door (The music you hear when Donnie and Gretchen Ross enter Roberta Sparrow's (Grandma Death)house)4.Liquid Spear Waltz5.Manipulated LivingOf course this woud'nt be a complete list of the particular soundtracks I liked, but to name them all would be just like naming the entire list. The CD includes 18 soundtracks,including Mad World by Gary Jules in both the normal DD version and the DD alternate version which is a little more "rock-ish".Michael Andrews has done the best possible to make this a good score.

Donnie Darko itself is the number one movie on my list....No no no I do not have short standards, it just appealed to me on a very high level. As for the score, one couldn't have asked for anything better. Michael Andrews has done a stunning job of incorporating exceptional 80's piece music with some modernized beats. Some of the most eerie and harrowing pieces of music I have heard in a long time. It is by far one of my most favorite scores out there. It's just too bad they ran short to also produce a soundtrack. The 80's element within the film really helped create the setting and time. Oh well, there's always a bootleg cut. :)

This soundtrack in enjoyable. It complements the soundtrack of a very interesting and enjoyable movie. Much like the movie, the soundtrack projectsis a feeling of disconnected reality and an almost untouchable angst that stems from the heavily vocoded melodies and harmonies. I purchased this disc thinking that the pieces of music would be longer than the 30 second samples found on Amazon, however most of the tracks are fewer than two minutes long, and many are under a minute. All of the tracks on this disc are interesting, however highlights include Rosie Darko and Gretchen Ross. For the few seconds that the songs play, they are dreamy, moody, and perfect for either spacing out while surfing the net, or for falling asleep at night.

I first listened to the "Mad World" track by Gary Jules and loved it (the original was performed by Tears for Fears- not as good). I checked out the other film music and decided to buy the CD. Note there are two versions: One is more instrumental, and the other 2-CD set has the instrumental + all the songs in the actual movie. It's all good. If you liked the film and music, you will most definitely like either CD.

This soundtrack is incredible. The music, to me, seems haunting or somewhat mystical at times, but overall it has a great flow to it. The version of Mad World on the disc is worth the purchase. I wish the disc was a bit longer, though. Overall, I am very happy with it.

Love it and it arrived nice and early

Fantastica raccolta delle tracce che accompagnano ogni fase del celeberrimo film.Tutte le tracce sono music only, il che conferisce un' aria molto ambient music a questo prodotto. Tutte ad eccezione dell' ultima, straordinaria traccia, famosissima interpretazione di Gary Jules di Mad World.Vivamente consigliata a chi ha molto amato il film e le sue atmosfere.
