This is my second order so that should say how they work! Really helps keep the hottub water clear and fresh. Easy to install too.

These arrived as expected. It’s nice to get them in a 3 pak I buy them every quarter.

The HOTSPRING SILVER SPA Ag+ Mineral Ion Cartridge is a product intended to assist in hot tub water clarity by killing bacteria and thus facilitating clean, clear water with less chemicals. The HOTSPRING SILVER SPA Ag+ Mineral Ion Cartridge is intended to be inserted into the filter standpipe. Three mineral cartridges are included in the package along with 3 adapters to help secure the cartridges in the filter. Also included are a well written instruction pamphlet and a handy card of date stickers to help remind about the next cartridge change (in case you don’t use your phone or online calendar for reminders). I found that the cartridge would not fit into my standpipes, so I just wedged it between the filters (my hot tub has twin filters, see photo).I have been a hot tub owner for about 40 years. My current setup has a built in ozonator. I find that with normal use and a mineral cartridge like the HOTSPRING SILVER SPA Ag+ Mineral Ion Cartridge, I can maintain clear water with no bromine or other chemicals. I find that my water chemistry is stable without additives. I do use an oxidizing shock and water clarifier from time to time if the water fails to remain crystal clear. Eventually, when water clarity does not hold it is time to replace the mineral cartridge. I like to judge water clarity at night with the spa light on. I find that subtle haze is more easily detected at night with the spa light than in daylight. I use the following scale:5 Perfect clarity; the beam of light is invisible; no “floaties” in the water4 The light beam is barely detectable; no “floaties” in the water; no need for maintenance3 The light beam is easily detectable; a few “floaties” might be present in the water; maintenance includes shock and possibly water clarifier2 The light beam is obvious; numerous “floaties” in the water; noticeable haze even in daylight; maintenance includes shock, water clarifier; partial water change may be necessary1 Yuccckk…very hazy water obvious even in daylight; partial or full water change necessaryThe real test of a mineral cartridge like this takes several months to see how it performs over time under a variety of situations. I did perform the following short-term trial of the HOTSPRING SILVER SPA Ag+ Mineral Ion Cartridge:Initially I checked water with my previous cartridge, and I found it to be a 4. I then replaced the existing cartridge with the HOTSPRING SILVER SPA Ag+ Mineral Ion Cartridge. As stated above the HOTSPRING SILVER SPA Ag+ Mineral Ion Cartridge did not fit in the short standpipe of my hot tub, so I wedged it between the twin filters. I did not use the hot tub again for about 3 weeks. When I checked water again it was a perfect 5…GREAT START!!!. There were no streaks or deposits on the walls of the hot tub. I used the hot tub that night and rechecked water clarity 3 days later. Normally I would expect water to be almost 5 (4.0-4.5) a few days after use. However, I found that the light beam was easily detectable although there were no “floaties”. I assigned a water clarity level of 3. Since this is poorer performance than expected I deducted 1 star from my evaluation. The water still looked clear in daylight (see photo). I added shock and water clarifier. I will continue to monitor water clarity with the HOTSPRING SILVER SPA Ag+ Mineral Ion Cartridge and I will update my rating if necessary.Pros: 3 pack at a decent price Well written instructions Simple to installCons: Possibly lower performance compared to Frog brand
