Fancy Nancy: Bonjour, Butterfly

Magic in the details
Everything about this hardback kids' book is charming, but it's the little details that will make you a Fancy Nancy fan.The illustrations -- pen and ink over vivid watercolor -- are packed with fun and realistic details. They bring the story to life, and more importantly, bring the characters to life. For example, in a scene in a garden, Nancy's mom is wearing a cap with a pink breast cancer ribbon that reads "3 Day Race." When the family has a picnic, Nancy has a tea set up for her dolls with the table being a shoebox. The shoebox reads "Comfies: Like walking on a cloud! Size 8 medium." In the hotel room, dad rests with a book over his eyes. The title? Dangerous Admissions, which is author Jane O'Connor's novel for adults. The plot is nice, too. It's about how little girl Nancy has to miss her friend Bree's butterfly-themed birthday party because she has to go to her grandparents' anniversary celebration. Nancy is very unhappy at first: "For the next two days, I scowl and sulk and storm around the house." But when the tiny drama queen goes to the anniversary she has a great time, and apologizes for her bad behavior. The cover is as fancy as Nancy herself, with glossy glittery sparkles on the artwork, words and the outside border of the book. When you take off the paper sleeve, the hardback cover has the same artwork but without the sparkles.

A beautifully illustrated book that’s exciting!
A great gift! The book has beautiful illustrations and a cute story line that is exciting and lot of fun to read to your little princesses or for them to look at. We love this character! Learning some French is also fun too. Provides an exciting and fun adventure in a story that’s so cute!

We're fancy
Another great read from Jane O'Connor. My granddaughter truly enjoys her series of books. I love the way it teaches little girls fancy new words.

My two & four year old granddaughters are delighted by all of the Fancy Nancy books
My two & four year old granddaughters are delighted by all of the Fancy Nancy books. The illustrations are lovely, Nancy is indeed fancy and imaginative. It's fun to read the French words (which are then explained in English words that young children understand). Positive relationships (parents, friends) and themes run throughout the books without being preachy.

Dad's love Fancy Nancy too!
I have to admit that when I ask my girl to pick out a book to read, I hope she chooses one of the Fancy Nancy series. I love these books! The story alone would be great. The pictures alone would be great. Put them together and you have near perfection. The books are full of emotion and the characters are easy to connect with. This is an excellent book about excitement, frustration, joy, and fanciness. I highly recommend it!

Terrible Quality
The quality of this book when it arrived was terrible. The pages were thin and poor quality. The cover was thin and flimsy. Very disappointed.

j'ai aime
mais je n'ai pas adoré trop l'histoire. Les dessins sont très élaborés, très jolis et la morale aussi. Après c'est question du goût personnel.

Cute
This is a cute book, but starts and ends kind of abruptly. The storyline is a little disjointed--I get what they are trying to do but it doesn't flow very well. Still, my 4 yr old asks to read it every night before bed, and has learned several new words from it, so it wins her vote.
