Can’t get enough of this book!
I gave this as a gift for a new baby and the older son (about 3 years old) can’t get enough of it. He absolute loves it!

My kid likes the book, it's mediocre
The story is so so. My kid is relatively innocent (as he should be at this young age) and I try to skip over the part where the big shiny boats are making fun of Mabel. I don't want to introduce even the idea of bullying when at this age it's not something on his radar.I also have a hard time getting over the two grammatical mistakes in the book.

Bill and Mabel are friends
Bill is just a little tugboat with a sleepy captain, who spends his time on the Hudson River with his good friend Mabel the barge. The bigger, newer ships make fun of Mabel, but Bill and Mabel don't let that get them down! When a kitten falls into the river and Mabel saves it, she becomes famous... and the big ships find themselves wishing they had been nice like her. This cute picture book has a pleasant, upbeat message that kids can never hear too often--that it's okay to be yourself, and that in the end you will be valued for your individuality. The pictures are fun and colorful, and the overall cadence of the text makes this book very fun to read aloud.

My 4yo thought the book was misnamed
It's ok. Besides, it should obviously be named Mabel the Barge and the River Rescue. Bill is a minor character who does nothing. Guess he's the guy so they just had to name the book after *him*?
