It turns out parents spend a lot of times sitting around waiting for their kids -- piano lessons, band practice, etc. I like to sew while I sit. Most sewing boxes are pretty cumbersome and don't always latch very well. They are fine if you just want a cute place to keep some mending supplies at home but not great for on-th-go projects. I bought this. It's an excellent price. It's well made which to me means it is made with durable fabric (washable polyester, vinyl and nylon) and the stitching is secure. It is clearly not designed for sewing so I made some changes. In the area intended for makeup brushes, I removed some of the stitching so the pocket could hold my small scissors. As some other reviewers have noted, the dividers in the bottom are pretty useless because they are just too floppy. I removed those and the velcro intended to hold them in place so the velcro wouldn't snag my fabrics. It also lacked a good spot to park a needle so I added a tiny pin cushion.The case is soft sided which makes it really packable but also makes it not stand up firmly. I think you have to decide what's more important to you. I went with packable because I intend to travel with this. Because it is soft and squishy, I found it doesn't hold spools of thread in the upper zipper compartment. Since this is intended for hand sewing, I got a small bobbin box to hold bobbins of thread. This works great.The photos show the top compartment with modifications, the bottom compartment wtih my current sewing project, and the outside where you can see a handle on both the top and the side. I'm really happy with the whole thing.

This bag is roomy, without being huge. Had many compartments and is water resistant, not to mention pretty. I have purchased four different bags, none of which fit in my vanity, or were to my liking. I highly recommend this bag, and will order myself another, for travel.

I am very impressed with the beauty and quality of this travel cosmetic tote. It is roomy. I especially like the separate upper compartment.

Although I knew how large the make up bag was when I ordered it… it seems a bit big for everyday use and would be more beneficial for travel. It is decent quality and the colors are as expected from the pics.

So pretty! I store it In my bathroom, so my makeup iseasily assessable as most of it is stored in this bag that has easily organizable compartments.

This bag was a good size
