I have been buying Clymer manuals for years. I've bought them for all the bikes and atv's I've ever owned. When I worked for a bike shop we also purchased many of them. These manuals make even the most extensive repairs manageable for the owner as long as you have the tools and a modicum of mechanical ability. It has nice pictures and step by step instructions. It is a must have for any weekend mechanic working on their bike. It even has Color wiring diagrams. This helps emensly when trying to track down a short or open circuit. Clymer manuals are great and a lot cheaper than factory service manuals that are really for the professional mechanic not the novice. Also factory service manuals are notorious for not showing good pictures of the job your doing. They will say something like Remove the rear wheel and then show picture of changing the break pads which is what the job is for but what about a person that has never removed the real wheel. Clymer shows it all.

It is what it is and it is not what it is not. I would not want to have just this for instruction. I am glad that there are several communities out devoted KLR fans to talk to and to look at their videos on youtube. It is great as a reference manual for torque settings.But if you are a DIY KLR LOVER, then this is a must have.

I own two of these books, one for in the garage, and one to carry while riding - if you carry a manual, you wont need it.If you read the KLR mailing list, this is the manual everyone recommends. The dealer manuals are not nearly as good as this, so if you work on your bike, or just want to know a bit more about it, then buy this manual

Once you get past the slightly odd layout this manual is a plethora of information. It can be a little tricky to find it though as sometimes a component will be in a unexpected chapter.

Ho comprato questo manuale per restaurare il KLR650 di mio padre, del 1988. Il manuale è in lingua inglese e richiede una certa dimestichezza linguistica, ma la presenza di molte foto può essere di aiuto a chi magari non è proprio poliglotta.Il manuale è accurato, molto 'americano', con procedure chiare e ben strutturate.Diviso in vari capitoli (manutenzione, ruote, top del motore, forcelle ecc ecc) da linee guida chiare su tutte le procedure che potreste trovarvi ad eseguire, fino ad una ricostruzione del motore. Vi sono utilissime tabelle che riportano quantità e tipologie dei materiali di consumo originali (caratteristiche e quantità degli olii motore, forcelle, liquidi di raffreddamento). Inoltre vi sono schemi a colori di tutto il circuito elettrico, utilissimo per diagnosticare su carta un problema all'impianto senza passare ore con un tester.L'unico difetto che ho riscontrato è che la numerazione delle tabelle è imprecisa. Nel testo si fa riferimento alla tabella 1, ad esempio, ma non si intende la tabella numerata 1, ma la prima tabella presente nel libro. Un difetto probabilmente dovuto alla compartimentazione del lavoro editoriale.Io non sono un meccanico e la mia abilità meccanica è limitata a fare il tagliando alla mia moto 'moderna', senza troppi grattacapi, regolare i dischi della frizione e poco altro. Questo manuale mi ha dato la fiducia di intraprendere un lavoro molto più complesso, dopo un'attenta lettura. Il KLR è una moto semplice ovviamente, difatti il manuale è un paparback non molto voluminoso ma assolutamente completo.Alcune foto si riferiscono a modelli successivi al mio, probabilmente di fine anni '90, ma non è assolutamente un problema.Soldi davvero, davvero ben spesi!

Seems to have all that my factory manuals have but easier to access.

Appears to be detailed enough for tear down and rebuild as well as general maintenance.
