Book is great; additional resources NOT actually included
I purchased the book with the intent to review it and the "included" instructor resources for a possible course/program design. The front of the book specifically states that it "includes online access and instructor resources". When I reached out to the publisher about accessing said resources, however, I was told that they were only available with "bulk orders". Again, the book is great; I'm super disappointed with the inaccurate advertising.

Highly recommended for students of ministry or Clinical Pastoral Education
I am a Catholic priest and Jesuit who accompanies many Christians (as well as seekers and "nones") in retreats, spiritual direction, and pastoral counseling. An increasing number have begun to entrust me with personal stories of violence-based traumatic injury. As a "layman" in this regard, I have come to rely on Lisa Lopez Levers accessibly written book as an authoritative reference in such areas as intimate partner violence, criminal victimization, and racial, ethnic and immigration intolerance . I recommend it wholeheartedly for Chaplains, seminary students of ministry or Clinical Pastoral Education, those who train them, or anyone currently working in spiritual and pastoral ministries who wishes to grow their trauma-informed toolbox for a troubled world.

Comprehensive and Authoritative
Dr. Levers is to be commended for a much-needed and outstanding contribution to the trauma literature for those who provide trauma-competent therapy. This book expands, updates the literature, and improves the first edition significantly. It provides an outstanding introduction to the types of traumatic stress that therapists will encounter, including trauma in the context of relationships, in communities, and in natural disasters. The book further provides sections on assessment and best clinical practices, as well as professional issues such as vicarious trauma, ethics, and trauma-informed supervision. This is an ambitious and successful project. Dr. Levers has curated respected and wise experts for each chapter, and the book flows seamlessly through the landscape of traumatic stress and how to respond with professional excellence. Highly recommended for therapists and educators who prepare future therapists in Professional Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, and related disciplines.

A great resource for information on Trauma and providing counseling is in this book.
The use of lucid language without too much clinical terms, is a great achievement of any writer of clinical subjects and in this book Dr. Levers has achieved it. Dr. Lisa Lopez Levers has brought her life experience of facing and treating the Trauma Victims both in the USA and South Africa together to give us a useful tool. Those who are in the profession of mental health counseling and treatment would benefit greatly from this resource book. Years of teaching at Duquesne University in the subjects of clinical psychology and nursing has made Dr. Levers an authority on this subject of trauma counseling.
