Even as early as 1985 Prince had so many quality hits and tracks to perform with 'the Revolution.'
The improved remastered sound is phenomenal.

Fun show but...
It's always great to get a full Prince show released. After all, there's so few out there legally released that it should be considered a crime. The guy was a serious force to be reckoned with on stage. This leads us to Live, a concert recorded in 1985 and shows Prince in his prime, presumably touring the legendary Purple Rain album. As a performance, I thought the show was fantastic with just a little too much padding in the middle. Songs like Let's Go Crazy, Delirious, 1999, Computer Blue and When Doves Cry are all here and accounted for. It's a great set list that really demonstrated what was so exciting about Prince's then current hits. I did feel that the theatrics in the middle killed the bands momentum quite a bit. The whole "come home with me" or talking to God non sense got old quick and took up space where a couple of songs could have been. That's not to take anything away from the band themselves. The group are extremely tight and played the songs with a certain degree of class. But on top of this, they all have a dance routine to stick too and seeing them perform in such a manner is absolutely exhausting and would make modern musicians blush at just the thought. It's extremely impressive. Prince himself is in his glory days. His voice is as strong as ever, he's fit and agile, he bounces off every available object off the stage and plays some mean guitar. It's great to watch. The quality of the Bluray disc appears to be up setting some people. I don't know what they were expecting, especially considering there has been samples on Youtube for a while now. In my opinion, the quality of the film itself is fine. It's very clearly recorded in the 80s on film and has every problem that comes with it. You'll see plenty of lights ghosting, the speaker volume causing lines on the screen and a bit of fuzziness. But to say it looks disappointing for even bad is just not true. Sure, it could have been better but the image is still reasonably clear and is without a doubt extremely colourful. The sound on the Bluray as well as the CDs is great. I have cranked both up and it sounds big, thunderous and without a doubt live. You can hear all the musicians in the mix perfectly. Prince's guitar sounds fantastic and it's all around a good experience. My only complaint about the CDs is the same as the actual show. The whole theatrical section did not need to be on the CD. It adds little or nothing to the audio and trimming it a little would have been better for audio only experience.I'm sure Prince fan's will want to crucify me for saying that. But it is what it is. I love this collection, despite my gripe. It's great to finally own a mid 80s Prince show on Bluray. I watched it with my kids and they thought it was impressive. I got this on pre-order for a good £20 and I really could not complain. It may be a cash grab, but it has its value to fans like myself.

Excellent addition to any Prince fan's collection.
Any true Prince fans have owned the VHS copy of this concert for over 35 years and anyone who bought the Purple Rain SDE also got a copy of this concert included as a DVD. The concert has always been considered a classic but fans were frustrated with the sound and grainy images due to the concert dating back to 1985. The Prince estate has totally overhauled the audio and visuals and brought them up to date. The sound and visuals are amazing. This is an excellent addition to any Prince fans collection. Makes you appreciate how talented he actually was and how good his backing band, the Revolution were back in 1985.
