Unstripped 18AWG will not fit through the tube leading to the connector. This is to attest to the proper specification based upon the thickness of the conductor. As far as the current specifications, it does not specify other than to indicate low current applications such as telephone and low current/voltage control cabling.I think of myself as being very critical of electrical connectors since I was a technician of vibrating machinery in wet locations in years past. With that being said, I would absolutely give these a try in such locations, but would prioritize a crimp connector in such an extreme and often unique environment. My saying that I would give these a try says a lot about my perception of these connectors - I would confidently use these in any household application and even automotive. If I was using this in an automotive application, I would wire tie the connector securely to the sires to inhibit movement of the wires in relation to the connector and ensure the opening was facing downward to inhibit entry of water. The convenience of these is awesome!These pushed to the closed position even with oversized stranded conductor, and offered great conductivity. The single stranded 23AWG fared very well on a pull test (tension) both stripped and unstripped - BUT... You need to make sure to push the button in all the way so that the connector can grab the conductor adequately.The pictures are of the 18AWG and 23AWG - I am not saying that it would be used with 18 at all - it should not as per the manufacturer as well.
