One Small Square: Woods

East coast
This is an impressive series on ecosystems. I bought the entire set because nothing compares to it. However, these forests seem to be on the East Coast of North America and we live on the west coast. just be prepared for the book to not represent the woods in your area.

Excellent, fact-based book, with great illustrations!
This is an excellent book - suitable for kids of all ages (and even adults)! I was unsure about purchasing this book, because although the reviews were good, I didn't know what the book looked like inside. Some reviews stated that it was best for older kids, not for first or second graders. I found this book to be engaging for kids of any age - even if they can't read the text independently. The information is fact-based and the pictures are realistic (as opposed to "cartoons"). I highly recommend this series! Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

Great info and (science/nature) conversation starters. I love these books and recommend them. Might be to wordy for the youngest
Love how meaty these thin books are. They are packed with all kinds of information and projects for your kiddo. There is a lot of text, so consider it for 3rd/4th/5th graders if they are going to be reading it on their own. The 3rd graders may need a little help if they are a struggling reader. But if you have a science/nature loving kiddo, I have found nothing that improves their reading more than allowing them to read about what intrigues them. :-) oh - Great illustrations as well.

Fun book for exploring the woods!
I rated this five stars because I think this book is going to be amazing for our family once my toddlers get a little older. At the moment, they're just too young to focus on all the information on each page.

Let's Explore
When my great niece opened it she said," oh look a nature book. I'm going to love this". It was for her sixth birthday. A real hit.

Not just for kids!
Full of activities for your young ones to help in appreciating the environment in which they live as well as packed with information your average adult may not even have known or had long forgotten. Can't recommend this series highly enough! Only wish they had similar ones which explained political, religious and social processes of the world! No, really, that would be quite excellent.

Interesting facts!
One Small Square: Woods has been a great addition to our home school nature class. This book is full of interesting facts! Each topic has an activity/experiment allowing the reader to test, study and prove what they learned. We enjoy this type of hands on learning.

Woah! I ordered this book for my Kinders, and I think that most of it is a little too in depth for them (at least for now). This book would be an excellent resource for any upper-elementary teachers looking to bring more local nature into their science lessons.

A colourful and detailed educational guide for a walk in the woods! Each page gives wonderful information on the animals and plants/trees that you might encounter. I look forward to walking both on my own and with my grandchildren through the forest.
