Fantastic versatile tool!
As soon as these came I used them, so at 10 am. I have been drooling over these ARS pruners for years. I had no idea if I wanted telescoping or not, I just knew I wanted one that was long, because I was sick of moving my ladder around. I pretty much chose this one because it was a bit cheaper than the other and I thought I might want the shorter length too. I need to play around with it a bit more because in some applications the 4-7 feet is short, but it's also plenty. I was able to trim a massive native honeysuckle in our backyard (not a vine, a woody type) with ease. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Moving from one length to another is quick and simple. Changing the grip, same thing. Turning to fit on a branch, again, a breeze. I kept yelling to my BF that I was so happy about it. The only thing that got sore was my neck, from looking up because the pruner is ridiculously light (unlike another telescoping saw I bought years ago at Costco). The cut and hold shears took some getting used to, but they're super nifty. They work really well, you just have to make sure you are using them in the right direction to be able to "hold" after you cut. I was so pleased that I could trim this massive plant without annoying the hummers and without scheduling a time to go over to my neighbor's side of the fence. I could cut and grab all of the pruning/dead stuff and pull it over the fence without knocking on their door. A pleasant surprise for both of us!I love ARS and have since I got my first set of scissors from them, but they have such a superior cutting edge I've always gone back and recommended them. I should also note that I'm in the garden at least 10 hours a week, sometimes up to 40, so quality tools like theirs matter a lot.

Pricey, but it works great
Very well made. This is great for deadheading large rose bushes and trimming other shrubs. 1/4" maximum thickness of branches it will cut limits it somewhat, but it does a good job of holding the cutoff as long as you cut with the proper side up - not a problem since the handle rotates about 250° relative to the cutting head. Cutting action is very smooth with good leverage. The telescoping shaft is not continuously adjustable - it has to be locked in one of three positions (closed, half, and full extension) for the mechanism to work, but this is not much of a drawback, as there is a sliding rubber handgrip on the lower shaft that allows easy adjustment of the user's grip.

Best garden tool ever
I used the ARS telescoping Cut & Hold Pruner to trim a bougainvillea hedge along a rear fence. Worked perfectly. Best features include: 1) really sharp blade, 2) hold & cut feature, 3) adjustable length, 4) quality tool. Easily cut everything but the older thicker pieces greater than 1/2 inch in diameter. Those thicker branches could be cut with two or three cuts. Never knew about the hold and cut feature but it really saves the hands and arms from nicks from the thorns. Highly recommended. The high quality of this tool is worth the extra cost. Expect it to last for many years.

Quality Product jumps right out when you open the package
This is a beautiful crafted pruner with a well balanced and lightweight extension pole. It performs exactly as described and I'm certainly pleased with it. Will save me much time lugging around a ladder for many of the tree and hedge trimmings I must do. It does have it's limitation on the size it can snip and anything much over 1/4 " will not get done unless it is a new soft shoot and green branch. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it takes some getting used to how it operates. For instance, if the extension pole is not firmly set by allowing it to click into place it will not work at all and the clipper end may be locked in the open or closed position. This wasn't explained in the directions printed on the packaging label material. No separate sheet was provided so I had to scratch my head for awhile to figure it out.

One of the best tools I own
These are fantastic! For sure one of the best purchases I’ve made for working on my fruit trees. Easy to use, cuts very well in full extension (about finger-thick branches max), comfortable in the hand. I also have a 2nd cut-and-hold head for this and swap it out for harvesting certain fruits, like pomegranates, since the plant has thorns. If you can swing it, I’d recommend having both styles.

Not worse it
After the first use, the blade got broken.I usually buy Japanese tools as my investment. And I thought ARS LA-160ZF203 Telescoping Pruner would be it. Very disappointed!

Good Quality
Used for pruning wisteria and works well - this model has grippers that hold on to the cut fragment after cutting. I have other ARS products and they’re all good quality tools.
