MRE German Army EPA 24hr Combat Ration Typ 3

This will be a long review if you want to read it all but the short version is the seller is great, the item is as described, and I believe amazing and definitely worth it. Received much faster than Amazon said.This is the second time I've ordered. The first time I just ordered one and it came in super quick as well. I enjoy trying other nations rations and like another reviewer it is a hobby. I've eaten many US MREs, as well as British, Canadian, Chinese, French, and multiple types of Russian rations. I ordered the first German one so I could share the experience with my son when he came in for Christmas because he is into trying rations as well. We both thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried but didn't eat the whole thing. I gave the unopened items to my son so he could take them back with him. I want to try everything so I ordered 2 more.First off, this ration is bigger and heavier than I thought it would be, by a lot. I know it's a 24 hour ration, but for some reason I wasn't thinking it would be this hefty (even after having the Russian 24 hour rations). Everything is in German except the beef jerky which is in English. Some of the packages have both German and English, but most aren't so you may want to download a translate app if you can't read German.Second, the description on Amazon says the Expiration Date is mid 2019, but all 3 I've received has been for 2023. I'm not worried about eating food past its expiration date, but if you are then don't order it. I've eaten US MREs and HDRs that were 20 years old that had been stored correctly, so a few months don't make a difference to me. But again, if you believe the expiration date is the safe end of life date then do not order unless the seller offers newer ones.Third, calorie/food count. I'm not sure how many calories are in this 24 hour ration, but I can tell you I can't eat the whole thing in one day. It's at least a day plus breakfast possibly could be a day plus breakfast and mid morning snack. A lot of food for me. I'm not going to include any pictures because someone else already has in their review.Fourth, taste. To my son and myself everything was tasty. There wasn't anything we tried that we didn't like. I don't particularly like rye bread, but the canned rye bread was very edible in my opinion. Especially when paired with the different spreads. Speaking of spreads, our favorite was the Sour Cherry Jam Extra (thank you Google Translate!) followed by the Bread Spread (I think its like a creamy cheese with pepper, but could be wrong). There are things I like about each countries rations I've tried so it is really hard for me to rank them. I've eaten so many US MREs that all the mains taste pretty much the same, but they have more dessert and side choices than any of the countries I've tried. French and Russian mains are extremely good, but the sides can be monotonous in my opinion. Since I've only seen a few German rations (and only eaten part of 1) I don't know if they are monotonous as well, but they are at least tasty to eat!I'm generally pretty tight with my money (at least on certain things) but I think it is well worth the $59-$61 being asked for this. I would definitely order again, and again, and again...as long as I had the funds.If you are on the fence I honestly believe you can't go wrong by ordering from this seller. Spend the money, it's about the same amount as 4 or 5 fast food meals and it could be a memorable experience for you.I would love for this seller to offer other countries rations at an affordable price like this German ration if possible.

This is supposed to be rations for one person for one day. Honestly, depending on how much you eat, I think you could have enough to last at least two days or two people for one day. This kit is packed with food! Energy bars, beef jerky, a couple of different jams, canned meat like SPAM or deviled ham, crackers, cookies, two dark chocolate bars, coffee, tea, espresso, sugar, creamer, salt, pepper, canned rye bread, different entres, musli, safety matches, tissue, wipes, and more. I think what you receive will depend on which menu your ration is picked from. Like American MREs there are different menus and different items for each menu. If I'm reading everything correctly it looks like there are 6 different menus. The one shown in the picture is type 3. I happened to get type 4. Most of the labels on the packaging are in German except for the beef jerky which has English and German wording. That being the case, if you don't read German you may want to consider using a translator app to decipher the labels. Or you can pull everything out of the box and read the sheet of paper in the bottom that basically translates everything for you, just pick from German, English or French. There is also what appears to be a biodegradable spoon in the kit, gum and other items. Getting started in the military I got used to CRats before the MREs came out. Today's MREs are better than the older ones and this kit is definitely on a par with the new MREs. This kit also includes things that used to be included in CRats but not in our modern MREs such as toilet /tissue paper, matches, wet wipes, solid fuel for heating the meal and more. While I haven't tried all the food in it yet what I have had has been very good. I'm so impressed with the kit I'm buying more. And don't worry too much about the sellers description saying it has a 2019 experation date. The kit I received was dated February 28,2023. That generally refers to the manufacture date and the food is designed to last anywhere from 5 to 7 years depending on how it's been stored. Great seller and great item.

All things considered, this is a pretty good MRE, as good as MRE’s can get at least. All of the food items are great (they’re even better if you’re able to heat them up) and even has some treats and snacks as well! It was a bit expensive but all things considered, I’d say it was worth it.

Bought this on 12/27 and got it on 12/29 in perfect condition. A great deal to be had! I don’t store these for emergency food but rather taste them as a hobby. This was a great buy! Just like the ones you’d see Steve eat! Overall very happy with this purchase with the speed of delivery and shape of the product. 10/10 recommended. I hope this store has more wonderful prices and products so I can nerd out.

Military MREs are hit-and-miss but the Germans always come through, this one filled with two tasty mains (split pea & ham, and post-war favorite "Currywurst" [hotdogs w/ curry&ketchup] ) as well as delicious pates, high quality drink mixes, tuna, dried fruit, mousse, and a lot more. Worth the experience if you've never tasted one of these fun packs of joy.
