Heats quickly once plugged in and turned on. But be careful, bc there's no automatic shut-off or temperature control, and it gets so hot that you're apt to fry your hair if you leave it on too long. It is small too so cannot do large quantities of thick hair very fast.But, it's great for touch -ups and my bangs when it's humid outside! Update - 2023! I have had this little thing since the end of 2016. In the beginning it heated up super fast and got very hot! For the last year or so it takes a little longer to heat up- instead of being hot in 30 seconds it takes about 60-90 secs. Still gets very hot. But unfortunately, the cord or wires inside where it's attached to the cigarette charging end, must be cracked inside bc it will only come on after I move the thing in the cigarette lighter of my car a few times and each time it takes longer and longer for it to finally make the connection. I came on here hoping to get another one but I see they do not make it any monger. All I see available mare the portable irons with USB chargers and lots of complaints that they do not get hot enough or stay hot enough for long. I also don't feel like sepnding $50-$80 on something I rarely use anymore (I used to travel in the car a lot). I will keep looking and see what else I can find and in the meantime, keep twisting the plug in the socket hoping for contact!

This might be the best product ever! You never know when disaster is going to strike with your hair! This flat iron is the most convenient thing to have in your car. Last month I brought it with me to an event and my parents were with me. My mom was noticeably upset about her hair being frizzy. I told her I had this flat iron with me in case of any hair emergencies. My sister was in the car too and they both didn't know that such a product existed. I told my mom I'd try to fix her hair because it was super frizzy. It worked like a charm! Her hair looked super shiny and healthy! I had just bought it and didn't get to try it so I was amazed at how well it worked! I would highly recommend this product to everyone. On top of that, the price is amazing so everyone really should have one in their car. I promise you, you won't regret purchasing this.New update:I can't express how much I love this flat iron. I commute to school four times a week and sometimes the rain can reek havoc on my hair. The other day when it rained, my hair looked like absolute crap. I had some time to kill between classes and decided to quickly fix my hair. It took less than five minutes to fix my hair and I was on my way! This is the perfect gift / stocking filler for any girl on the go!

I love this thing. It works great. Honestly speaking , it is very unsafe. The thing does not turn off you have to be cautious to remember that when it's on, it's on. There is no safe place to put it while driving and it gives you great opportunity to do your hair in traffic. I am a multi-tasker and certainly do not mind doing a quick piece of hair stopped in traffic or at a red light. I have not burned myself yet, but very surprised that I have not. The thing gets dang hot!

I'm on the fence with this. If there were more options that plugged into a car adapter, I'd say I don't like it, BUT since this is one of the only options, it is okay. Just know that its really thin and would be hard to do all your hair with or would take a really long time, especially longer if you have thick hair or a lot of it. I just used it for my bangs, so it is fine. Also know that the plastic on the outside gets REALLY HOT TO THE TOUCH to the point it burns my fingers and I have to stop using it. I wouldn't repurchase it.

My husband and I drive a semi truck. We drive OTR, so as a women I have to adjust certain home comforts for being at work. We have never had a semi that could run a flat iron. But I still love to dress nice and do my hair/makeup. This may be a mans job but I look better lol so my search began. There are a couple different options here on Amazon but I chose this one. So lets get to the review!The design is adorable. I love chi straighteners and this had the same aesthetic appeal with the blavk and silver/grey fancy design. It is so compact it fits perfect in the mesh zip pocket of my makeup bag. It doeant look like cheap junk. The connect between the straightener body and the cord is strong. Definitely nothing on this feels like cheap dollar store plastic. The cigarette plug seems well made too. For my purpose I love this little guy. Keep in mind no one ia going to do a full head of heavy curls with this. But its great for me in the truck and my short hair that has a light curl to it. My hair is to my chin and only the ends curl for some crazy horrible life torturing reason. So this little guy works great for straightening out my ends and making my hair look polished every day. I highly reccomend this product if you OTR or if you want a back up straightener for your car.

I absolutely loved this travel straightener and would have rated it a 5 if it still worked. I probably used this item less than 20 times before it stopped working. Within a couple weeks of buying this I began having difficulty getting it to power up, I would plug it in then have to adjust the cord or rotate the plug in the outlet several times until the power light would come on. Then between 2-3 months of owning this item, it stopped turning on completely, regardless of adjusting the cord or rotating the plug in the outlet. I'm very disappointed because I really liked it.My 5 star rating -I have wavy, thin hair that comes just below my shoulders and could straighten my whole head with this tiny iron in less than 10 min. It doesn't have an adjustable heat setting but the default heat level was perfect. This iron is great for touch ups in your car, heats up quick and works well. Amazing straightener for the price!
