One of the best books
I have many communication books, but this book is my favorite. To me, it 's one of the best books about communication receivers. The book is well written and concise by very experienced and professional authors in this field. Good reference book and must have for wireless communication engineer.

Have not hard time to study this in any detail but from what I see I am very pleased that I bought this for reference.

Going digital is a tough task because there is still no replacement for masterpieces like, for example
Radio receiver technology is rapidly going digital, with Software Defined Radio (SDR) as a major trend.Going digital is a tough task because there is still no replacement for masterpieces like, for example, filters, high dynamic range mixers, and of course oscillators. So, a successful design is an appropriate blend of traditional engineering, analog to digital conversion, fast digital processing, and software. The best blend depends on purposes, from mobile devices to laboratory equipment, and changes with the progress of technology. A successful design is also a blend of deep understanding hardware, and extensive simulations.Communication Receivers is about all of that, clearly oriented to future.Going through it, I have to switch all the time between basic principles, performance analysis, block diagrams, and electrical schematics. This is good for learning because this is how the progress grows. Finally, all the authors are both outstanding professionals and serious hobbyists of radio engineering. Whoever is him/herself a serious hobbyist, or has been sufficiently close to one, knows how far the personal commitment can go, and of course how beneficial this commitment can be to others.Of course, I recommended this book.Enrico Rubiola

Provides some insight, but with caveats
This title contains a great deal of content from writers well experienced in their fields. But as I've found with some of their other books, it is very confusing to read in detail- terms in equations are often not defined, many concepts are mentioned in only a couple sentences without further clarification or elaboration, there are figures of large schematics with little to no explanation besides a caption, and topics jump all over the place without a consistent flow. I did buy this title because I think it does piece together some important advanced aspects of the trade that cannot be found easily elsewhere and can be illuminating in small bursts, but requires chasing down other references for more clarity. I sort of get the feel the book is like finding years of notes from a senior engineer colleague with deep experience that look rich at a high level, but very difficult to follow if you try to dive in with great detail due to them not putting enough consideration into a reader's experience.
