AprilAire EO70 dehumidifier works great!
We had the AprilAire dehumidifier model 1830 in our basement crawlspace for almost 8 years and was great until it expired. We purchase the AprilAire model EO70 dehumidifier to replace it. It is easy to install and operate as a basement dehumidifier. It is very efficient and low cost to operate. The user display control panel is simple to operate and set the options. It has a 5 year warranty and comes with a second air filter too. We certainly recommend this product! Many thanks. John and Tina G.

Fast shipping and works great.
Easy set up and works great. My humidity was 80% in the crawl space within a day I had it down 47% percent humidity.

Aprilaire products are a great value and hold up over the long haul
This is my second Aprilaire dehumidifier and I couldn't be more pleased with their products. My first Aprilaire dehumidifier was the 1750 model and lasted just over 10 years in a 1,200 square foot basement. The E70 Pro is the replacement for the 1750 and is quieter, more efficient and less expensive in price (after 10 years of inflation). Don't fall for the smaller dehumidifier products that rarely last more the 2-3 years (from experience). This unit keeps my basement at the exact level of humidity (around 50%) that is set with minimal run time and energy efficient.

Great dehumidifier
Works perfectly look no further. Don’t buy the cheap ones for half the price they don’t work.

I love this unit!
We bought this to replace an older unit that had failed. Installation was easy in the crawl space - adding the included risers, connecting the drain hose and plugging it in. My crawl space went from 85% humidity down to 57% overnight and has stayed there consistently!

Nicely designed
I purchased a cheaper dehumidifier and ran it for a few weeks. It leaked everywhere and started rusting. I returned it, the manufacturer didn't like my poor review and is trying to bribe me to remove it from Bed Bath & Beyonds website. This Aprilaire is a manufacturer I'm very familiar with. I've worked with their Humidifiers since the 90s. The E070 costs twice as much as a lot of the no-name branded units but the engineering, quality materials and features make it worth it. It is fully insulated for one. I don't know how one of these would be able to work properly in an attic or crawlspace if it weren't. The cheaper Wakar unit I purchased was not insulated. The E070 rustproof refrigerant coils and drainpan, also unlike the bargain unit. The built-in controls are nice with the option to purchase an external humidistat. So far the unit has far surpassed every expectation.

Works great in the crawl space. Reduced humidity
We had several days of high humidity and temperature. This led to there being an extremely high relative humidity in the crawl space. My HVAC system errored out. Called service company and technician informed me that water was found to be shorting the breaker on the air handler. I ordered and installed this and within a few days the relative humidity was reduced to the low 60% range. And the dehumidifier is still keeping it there. I als installed some heavy plastic sheeting in the crawl space and sealed the foundation vents.

Terrible handling and low quality
Amazon delivered the unit upside down, which is a serious issue for a dehumidifier. This mishandling can cause refrigerant to flood the compressor, leading to major problems. I left the unit in my garage for over two days, hoping the refrigerant would stabilize and the unit would recover. Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to happen. When I turned it on, it was much noisier than expected, despite being advertised as one of the quietest dehumidifiers on the market. Additionally, the unit overheated, raising the temperature in my garage by more than 15 degrees shortly after it was powered on.When I tried to check the filter to ensure it was clean, I found the filter housing was bent, making it difficult to remove. After adjusting the housing, I was finally able to take out the filter, but I noticed that the insulation board at the bottom of the housing was cracked in the middle.I contacted Aprilaire's tech support, and they were surprised by the extent of the issues. They recommended returning the unit to Amazon and ordering a replacement, which I did. Hopefully, the second unit will be handled properly during shipping and will not have the same problems as the first.Update: the 2nd unit was also terrible. It had the quality problems as the 1st one and more. These units are not safe to put in tight spaces like a crawl space because they generate too much heat. They are a fire hazard and I strongly recommend to avoid them. Also don’t buy any appliance from Amazon with refrigerant. The company doesn’t seem to keep them upright in their warehouses and during the delivery. Also they take several weeks or months to issue a refund for the returned items.Bottom line is that I am done with aprilaire. I had to waste several hours to remove parts from an aprilaire 1850 dehumidifier in my crawl space so that I could remove it and take it to the county dump. The unit was only 6 years old. The company makes their products unrepairable. When they break the only option is to replace them, which is a big hassle given their weight and location.
